📋 Description

• As a Principal Frontend Engineer at ClickUp, you will shape the long-term technical vision for frontend engineering across the organization, driving architectural strategy that ensures scalability, performance, and maintainability as the platform evolves to support millions of users worldwide.
• You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, solving complex, cross-team technical challenges while mentoring senior engineers and influencing organizational decisions to uphold engineering excellence in a high-growth, innovative environment.
• What the person will do day to day:
• Define and drive frontend architecture strategy across product areas and platform investments, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical excellence.
• Lead the design of scalable, performant systems using Angular 2+ and React, enabling rapid product development without compromising long-term sustainability.
• Solve complex cross-team technical challenges related to performance bottlenecks, state management inefficiencies, scalability limits, and developer productivity barriers.
• Partner with backend and integrations teams to shape end-to-end architecture for major features, ensuring seamless data flow and system cohesion.
• Raise the bar for quality, testing, maintainability, and engineering rigor by establishing and advocating for best practices across the frontend organization.
• Provide technical leadership on highest-impact initiatives, unblocking teams facing ambiguous or difficult problems through deep technical judgment and hands-on support.
• Guide teams toward pragmatic decisions that balance speed to market with long-term product quality and system health.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers, fostering growth and helping shape frontend engineering culture, standards, and knowledge sharing practices.
• Influence roadmap and organizational decisions through strong technical judgment, product partnership, and data-informed advocacy.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of frontend engineering experience with deep expertise in large-scale web applications
• Expert-level proficiency in Angular 2+, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and state management systems like NgRx or Redux
• Proven track record of architecting complex frontend systems used by large numbers of users
• Deep expertise in performance optimization, frontend scalability, maintainable application design, and reusable component architecture
• Experience driving technical strategy across multiple teams or product areas in fast-moving environments
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills with ability to influence across functions and levels
