Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end product strategy for Dow Jones’ global API Governance Framework, setting the long-term vision that will unify hundreds of internal and external APIs into a single, scalable, compliant platform.
- • Define and continuously evolve the roadmap for the Dow Jones Developer Portal, turning it into a best-in-class, developer-centric hub that accelerates onboarding, reduces time-to-first-API-call, and drives measurable adoption across consumer and B2B segments.
- • Champion an “API-as-a-Product” culture across engineering, product, and business teams, ensuring every interface is treated as a reusable building block rather than a one-off integration—resulting in faster feature delivery and lower maintenance costs.
- • Establish and enforce enterprise-grade governance policies—covering naming conventions, versioning, error handling, security standards, and lifecycle management—so that every API released meets the same bar for quality, compliance, and brand consistency.
- • Lead cross-functional squads composed of architects, engineers, UX designers, security, legal, and business stakeholders to co-create scalable solutions that satisfy stringent regulatory requirements while delighting developers and end-users alike.
- • Translate complex regulatory, security, and brand requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring engineering teams can deliver compliant features without sacrificing speed or innovation.
- • Use quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize initiatives: API usage analytics, developer satisfaction surveys, NPS, revenue attribution, and cost-of-ownership metrics guide every roadmap decision and resource allocation.
- • Navigate high ambiguity—such as shifting compliance mandates, evolving client needs, and legacy system constraints—by creating decision frameworks, scenario models, and risk matrices that secure executive buy-in and keep delivery on track.
- • Serve as the primary evangelist for Dow Jones APIs at internal summits, client workshops, and industry conferences, articulating the value proposition to technical and non-technical audiences and gathering feedback that feeds directly into the backlog.
- • Mentor and influence senior product managers across portfolios, sharing best practices in API design, governance, and developer experience to elevate the overall product maturity of the organization.
- • Partner with the Senior Director of Integration Feeds & APIs to align the API platform vision with Dow Jones’ broader data-distribution strategy, ensuring seamless interoperability between feeds, APIs, and emerging event-driven architectures.
- • Drive post-launch optimization programs—A/B tests, deprecation schedules, sunset communications, and migration tooling—that maximize lifetime value while minimizing disruption for thousands of enterprise clients consuming Dow Jones content daily.
