Principal Product Manager (AI)

📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end strategy and roadmap for an AI-first product focused on automating dental insurance billing workflows, balancing short-term human-assisted tools with long-term autonomous AI agents.
• • Shadow dental billers, revenue specialists, and office managers to observe and document end-to-end workflows, translating decades of tribal knowledge from industry veterans into structured, machine-readable product logic.
• • Design and implement novel AI agent workflows including human-in-the-loop UX patterns, escalation paths, audit trails, and decision boundaries for when AI should act autonomously versus defer to human expertise.
• • Define and refine gradual autonomy models: determine precise triggers for AI actions such as "AI decides, AI performs," "AI suggests, human approves," "AI acts, human audits," or "AI skipped, human only" based on risk, compliance, and operational impact.
• • Build and evolve evaluation infrastructure for AI performance, including synthetic user testing, prompt regression testing, and outcome-based metrics that measure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in billing processes.
• • Leverage AI across the entire product lifecycle — from drafting and pressure-testing product strategy and generating synthetic user research to prototyping workflow flows in code and automating PR documentation when faster than manual writing.
• • Collaborate with small, cross-functional pods of engineers and designers to rapidly iterate on AI-driven features, ensuring alignment between technical capabilities and real-world dental practice constraints.
• • Establish clear guidelines for AI auditability and compliance in a highly regulated healthcare environment where errors in billing can result in financial penalties or patient care disruptions.
• • Translate complex regulatory and insurance claim rules into structured prompts, data schemas, and decision trees that guide AI behavior while preserving flexibility for edge cases.
• • Champion a culture of continuous learning by treating AI as a co-worker — delegating tasks, analyzing outputs, iterating on failures, and embedding feedback loops into daily product routines.
• • Communicate product vision and progress to the Head of Product and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment between AI capabilities, business goals, and dentist team operational realities.
• • Prioritize product initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and risk, with a focus on reducing claim aging, improving appeal success rates, and minimizing manual follow-ups in dental billing.
• • Document and standardize AI decision logic for reproducibility, compliance reviews, and team training, ensuring transparency in how AI arrives at billing decisions.
• • Stay at the forefront of AI design patterns in agent-based systems, evaluating emerging frameworks, LLM capabilities, and tool-use architectures to inform Wisdom’s technical direction.
• • Maintain deep empathy for end users — dental billers with 10+ years of experience — ensuring AI augments their expertise rather than replaces it, preserving trust and adoption.
• • Drive product innovation in a fast-moving, Series A-funded environment with a mandate to build a category-defining solution in dental healthcare administration.
