Accountants are a crucial user group and a significant growth engine for Gusto, referring their small business clients and contributing substantially to the company's revenue. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of how accountants deliver payroll and advisory services, thereby impacting millions of small businesses.

You will be responsible for crafting a compelling long-term vision and strategy that identifies significant problems Gusto Pro can solve with a sustainable competitive advantage. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with Engineering, Design, and Data Science teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle. Furthermore, you will partner with Revenue teams to jointly develop hypotheses and foster a robust sales and product-driven growth engine. A significant part of your role will involve designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests and lean experiments to rapidly validate hypotheses and test new concepts, consistently seeking stronger signals for innovative ideas. You will be expected to execute and iterate at a rapid pace, prioritizing user delight, measurable impact, and continuous learning. Taking calculated risks and making informed tradeoffs will be essential. A core responsibility will be to define, meticulously measure, and actively improve key product and business metrics to ensure strategic objectives are met and exceeded.

The company fosters a culture of smaller, agile teams that move quickly with minimal overhead. Product Managers are encouraged to leverage AI tools to automate routine tasks, thereby amplifying creativity and enhancing team performance. Gusto embraces a 'boundaryless builder' philosophy, where traditional role distinctions are intentionally blurred, and PMs are expected to do whatever is necessary to achieve desired outcomes. This includes prototyping, automating processes, designing solutions, and shipping products, utilizing AI as a collaborative partner to transform challenges into durable, customer-centric solutions delivered with urgency and care. The company is deeply mission-driven, with a profound commitment to supporting small and medium-sized businesses by building technology for an AI-first world that equips them with the capabilities to manage and expand their operations confidently. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and Product Managers thrive in ambiguity, combining curiosity, a spirit of experimentation, and AI-native approaches to redefine how products and work are created at Gusto.
- • In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the accounting profession and the unique challenges they face in serving their small business clients. You will gain extensive experience in driving growth strategies for a referral-driven business model, leveraging data and experimentation to achieve significant business outcomes. You will hone your skills in strategic product vision setting, cross-functional leadership, and influencing stakeholders across various departments. By working with cutting-edge AI tools and methodologies, you will contribute to shaping the future of product development at Gusto. Successfully leading growth initiatives for Gusto Pro will provide a platform to make a substantial impact on millions of small businesses and solidify your expertise in product management within the FinTech and SMB SaaS space.
- • The Gusto Pro team is dedicated to becoming the premier platform for accountants, enabling them to efficiently manage payroll and advisory services for their clients. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about uncovering and solving complex customer problems, driving impactful experimentation, and identifying novel strategies to accelerate the growth of a referral-based business model.
