📋 Description

• As a Principal Product Technologist on Zillow’s Product Development Transformation team, you will serve as the technical heartbeat driving innovation in how Zillow builds products—bringing experimentation earlier, creating shared learning frameworks, and using AI to empower every team member as a builder.
• Day to day, you will design and develop AI-powered tools to accelerate product discovery, run structured experiments, and turn operational signals into organizational insight; rapidly prototype solutions to compress product development cycles; collaborate with data science and engineering to scale capabilities; partner with product managers and leadership to translate goals into working systems; influence technical architecture for scalable AI systems; present complex work with clarity to senior stakeholders; and lead ambiguous projects independently to deliver high-impact outcomes.
• The Product Development Transformation team is a small, mission-driven unit at Zillow focused on evolving product development through experimentation, AI democratization, and cultural shifts toward building and creating—prototyping their own processes and using AI as a force multiplier for all roles.
• In this role, you will learn to navigate organizational transformation at scale, deepen your expertise in AI-powered systems (including LLMs, agentic architectures, and RAG), strengthen your ability to influence without authority, and help shape a new paradigm for how product teams learn, decide, and execute—leaving a tangible impact on how Zillow innovates in the age of AI.

🎯 Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in software engineering, technical product development, or an adjacent discipline with meaningful depth
• Deep experience designing and building AI-powered systems, including agentic architectures, LLM orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, and tool integration patterns
• Proven experience translating organizational and operational challenges into scalable technical solutions
• Experience working across diverse, cross-functional teams with demonstrated influence beyond formal authority
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and collaborative development tooling
• Experience partnering with data science teams to define instrumentation strategies, design metric frameworks, and build pipelines that turn operational signals into meaningful insight
