  • • Own the entire top-of-funnel for Latent’s engineering org, sourcing senior and staff-level software engineers across backend, infrastructure, and full-stack domains. You will be the first dedicated sourcer, so every experiment you run, every message you write, and every candidate you surface will directly shape how we scale from 30 → 100+ engineers.
  • • Build and continuously refine a high-signal talent map: comb GitHub contribution graphs, sift through niche Slack/Discord communities, mine conference speaker lists, and turn passive networks into warm leads. You’ll maintain a living database of prospects ranked by technical depth, mission alignment, and likelihood to move.
  • • Craft hyper-personalized outreach that feels handcrafted, not automated. Expect to A/B test subject lines, iterate on tone, and weave in details about the candidate’s latest side project or OSS commit. Your north-star metric is a 35 %+ reply rate and a 50 % conversion from intro call to onsite.
  • • Partner elbow-to-elbow with recruiters and hiring managers to translate fuzzy “great engineer” definitions into crisp sourcing criteria. You’ll sit in architecture reviews, read design docs, and occasionally pair-program so you can speak credibly about our stack (Go, TypeScript, Postgres, Kubernetes) and the technical challenges that excite prospects.
  • • Experiment with new channels before they’re saturated: sponsor small meetups, run invite-only roundtables, or co-author technical blog posts that double as talent magnets. You’ll own the budget, the vendor relationships, and the post-mortem analysis.
  • • Instrument everything. You’ll build lightweight dashboards (Looker + Airtable) tracking volume, quality, and funnel velocity, then present weekly insights to founders and the broader recruiting team. When metrics dip, you’ll diagnose root causes and propose fixes within 24 hours.
  • • Cultivate long-term relationships—even when timing isn’t right. You’ll host quarterly “Latent Labs” demo nights, send birthday PR reviews, and maintain a nurture sequence that keeps prospects warm for 6–18 months until the stars align.
  • • Champion diversity from the very first search. You’ll run targeted sourcing campaigns for under-represented groups, partner with ERGs, and ensure every slate presented to hiring managers is at least 40 % non-traditional or non-male profiles.
  • • Influence the broader talent brand. Your candidate feedback will feed directly into website copy, engineering blog posts, and conference abstracts. You’ll co-create content that showcases our culture and technical depth, turning sourced leads into inbound applications.
  • • Scale yourself. Within 12 months you’ll design the playbook and potentially hire a junior sourcer, handing off repeatable workflows while you focus on the highest-leverage strategic bets.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 1–4 years of technical sourcing experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up environment; agency or in-house both acceptable.
  • • Demonstrated ability to source passive senior/staff-level software engineers and achieve ≥30 % response rates on cold outreach.
  • • Fluency with modern sourcing tools: LinkedIn Recruiter, SeekOut, Gem, HireEZ, and Boolean/X-Ray search; bonus points for SQL or scripting to automate data pulls.
  • • Strong technical fluency—you can read a GitHub repo, understand system-design diagrams, and converse credibly about distributed systems, APIs, or data pipelines.
  • • Bias-to-action mindset: you ship experiments quickly, measure results, and iterate without waiting for permission.
