  • • As a Principal User Experience Designer at Autodesk, you will be at the forefront of shaping the foundational experiences that power all Autodesk products. You will join the Platform Services and Enabling Technologies Experience Design team, a critical group responsible for the platform capabilities that underpin our vast suite of design and creation software. Your primary focus will be on the Access ecosystem, a vital area that governs how millions of customers sign in and manage product and project access across our entire product portfolio.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction of customer interactions within a company that serves diverse industries, from architecture and engineering to manufacturing and entertainment. You will be instrumental in creating cohesive, scalable, and user-centered experiences that can be seamlessly adopted by over 100 Autodesk products, impacting how users design, create, and build the future.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend beyond individual product design; you will be a key player in conceptualizing and visualizing how different systems and platforms work together. This involves providing systems thinking to develop frameworks and workflows that enhance the overall user journey and ensure consistency across the Autodesk ecosystem.
  • • You will lead significant experience design initiatives, setting strategy by identifying the optimal intersection of business objectives, customer needs, and technical possibilities. This strategic approach will be informed by a deep understanding of both qualitative and quantitative user insights, ensuring that design decisions are data-driven and impactful.
  • • Collaboration is central to this role. You will partner closely with product management and engineering teams to translate high-level goals into tangible, unique, and scalable platform experiences. This involves actively participating in and facilitating design-thinking exercises designed to break down organizational silos and collaboratively tackle complex design challenges.
  • • A significant part of your work will involve visualizing and prototyping intended solutions. This will range from creating high-level wireframes and mock-ups to developing conceptual presentations and detailed technical diagrams, ensuring clarity and alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • • You will be responsible for planning and executing customer research activities and quantitative testing throughout the project lifecycle. This includes conducting collaborative sessions with customers and development partners to validate designs, gather feedback, and drive iterative improvements, ensuring that the final experience is robust and user-validated.
  • • As a Principal Designer, you are expected to demonstrate thought leadership. This involves actively engaging with designers across Autodesk and the broader design community, mentoring junior designers, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative design culture.
  • • Staying ahead of the curve is crucial. You will continuously monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to innovate and ensure Autodesk remains at the cutting edge of design and technology, extending our capabilities beyond current offerings.
  • • The Access ecosystem is complex, involving intricate sign-in processes and access management for a wide array of products and user types. Your work will directly contribute to simplifying these processes, enhancing security, and improving the overall user experience for millions of professionals worldwide. This requires a deep understanding of user needs, business requirements, and technical constraints to deliver elegant and effective solutions.
  • • You will champion user-centered design principles, ensuring that every design decision prioritizes the user's needs while effectively meeting business objectives. This balance is critical for creating successful platform experiences that are both intuitive and strategically aligned.
  • • The ability to communicate complex design concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders, product managers, and engineers, is paramount. Your storytelling skills will be essential in advocating for user needs and driving consensus on design direction.
  • • You will be expected to leverage AI-assisted development and writing tools to enhance efficiency in ideation, prototyping, implementation, and delivery, staying at the forefront of modern design workflows.
  • • This role demands a strong problem-solving ability, adaptability to rapidly changing environments, and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the successful execution of strategic design initiatives.
  • • Ultimately, your impact will be felt across the entire Autodesk product suite, contributing to a more unified, intuitive, and powerful user experience for creators and builders globally.
