Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end delivery of high-impact features in our all-TypeScript stack (React + Node), writing clean, testable code that powers the core workflows of commercial insurance brokers.
- • Partner directly with Product, Design, and Data to translate complex insurance problems into intuitive, AI-driven solutions—turning abstract broker pain points into elegant, incremental releases that users love.
- • Architect and evolve our data models to represent intricate insurance relationships—coverages, carriers, endorsements, renewals—so brokers can make faster, more accurate decisions without drowning in spreadsheets.
- • Design and ship agentic AI features that anticipate broker needs, automate repetitive tasks, and surface insights at exactly the right moment—laying the groundwork for an MCP-driven future where AI is a trusted teammate.
- • Champion best practices across code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and observability, raising the bar for engineering quality while keeping velocity high in a fully remote, async-first culture.
- • Influence product direction and business outcomes by bringing deep technical insight to roadmap discussions—connecting technical trade-offs to revenue, retention, and broker satisfaction.
- • Collaborate with insurance domain experts to learn the nuances of commercial lines (GL, WC, Property, Cyber, etc.) and translate that knowledge into software that feels tailor-made for the industry.
- • Mentor and level-up teammates through pair programming, architecture reviews, and thoughtful feedback, fostering a culture of continuous learning and shared ownership.
- • Iterate rapidly with real users—brokers in the field—validating prototypes, measuring impact, and refining features until they measurably improve daily workflows.
- • Travel to Austin (or designated off-sites) up to four times per year for high-bandwidth collaboration, team building, and strategic planning—then return home with clear priorities and renewed energy.
- • Contribute to open-source projects, internal tooling, and shared libraries that accelerate the entire engineering organization and give back to the broader TypeScript community.
- • Stay on the leading edge of applied LLM techniques—experimenting with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and agent orchestration—then productionize what works.
- • Balance long-term architectural vision with short-term business needs, making pragmatic decisions that keep the codebase healthy while delivering value every sprint.
- • Celebrate wins, learn from misses, and embody a growth mindset that turns every challenge into an opportunity for personal and collective improvement.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years shipping production-grade software in TypeScript, React, and Node (or a demonstrably similar stack) with a portfolio of features you can walk us through.
- • Proven ability to influence product and business direction through technical insight—examples of roadmap decisions you helped shape and the measurable impact that followed.
- • Hands-on experience or demonstrable curiosity in applied AI/LLM techniques (prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, agent frameworks) and a clear point of view on how to turn them into user value.
- • Comfort working across the full product lifecycle: ideation, scoping, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch iteration validated by real user feedback.
- • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a remote-first environment—able to drive clarity through written proposals, video calls, and async updates.
- • Willingness to travel to Austin or team off-sites up to four times per year (typically 3–4 days each trip).
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary + meaningful equity in a well-funded, high-growth company redefining commercial insurance.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with FSA and HSA options, plus One Medical memberships for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependents.
- • Flexible vacation policy and paid parental leave, plus up to $5,000 in family-forming reimbursements through Carrot.
- • 401(k) plan (Roth & Traditional) with company match, and up to $1,000 home-office stipend to create your ideal remote workspace.
