📋 Description

• This part-time AI residency offers senior private equity and growth equity professionals a unique opportunity to bridge deep investment expertise with cutting-edge artificial intelligence research, contributing directly to how frontier AI models reason about complex financial decisions in private markets.
• By working at the intersection of institutional investing and applied AI, participants will help shape the future of AI-assisted deal sourcing, due diligence, valuation, and portfolio management while gaining early access to emerging AI methodologies.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include developing realistic, domain-specific prompts that simulate the inquiries a junior analyst might make to test AI-generated insights for relevance, accuracy, and contextual understanding in private equity scenarios.
• Participants will systematically compare human investment judgment with AI outputs, identifying gaps in reasoning, overconfidence, or blind spots in model behavior when faced with ambiguous or high-stakes financial situations.
• They will design structured frameworks that encode how experienced investors navigate uncertainty, stress-test assumptions, evaluate management quality, and structure transactions — translating these cognitive processes into evaluable challenges for AI systems.
• A core task involves constructing and validating expert benchmarks using real-world financial models, returns analyses, and investment case studies drawn from actual PE and growth equity deals to rigorously assess AI performance.
• The residency is hosted by Mentis Technology Solutions Inc., a firm founded by alumni of Lazard and Partners Group, operating at the nexus of institutional asset management and frontier AI research with collaborative ties to leading AI labs in London and San Francisco.
• The team brings together deep private markets experience and applied machine learning expertise to improve how AI models generalize, reason, and make decisions in high-stakes, data-scarce environments typical of private equity.
• Participants will gain hands-on exposure to how AI is transforming private market workflows — from initial screening and diligence to ongoing portfolio monitoring and exit preparation — positioning them at the forefront of AI adoption in institutional investing.
• They will be among the first investment professionals globally to work directly on evaluating and improving how frontier AI models reason about illiquid assets, complex capital structures, and long-term value creation in private markets.
• Through this experience, residents will develop practical fluency in AI interaction, prompt engineering, and model evaluation — skills increasingly critical for investment professionals navigating an AI-augmented landscape.

🎯 Requirements

• 3 to 7 years of experience in private equity or growth equity at a renowned large-cap or upper-middle market fund in Europe or the United States
• Current or recent role at Associate, VP, or Principal level; industry agnostic background accepted
• Demonstrated strong financial modeling and valuation skills with hands-on experience across the full deal lifecycle, including sourcing, due diligence, structuring, monitoring, and exit
