You will own the entire analytics pipeline, from defining what data is critical to collect, to building the systems that capture it, and finally, to surfacing insights that directly influence product development and strategy. Your work will ensure that X-Bow's product is genuinely data-informed, moving beyond mere data-adjacency to a state where every product decision is grounded in a clear understanding of user engagement, retention, and feature adoption.
• • Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities critical to building and maintaining a comprehensive product analytics system. You will be responsible for the complete ownership of product analytics, starting with the meticulous definition of an event taxonomy and the implementation of robust instrumentation, all the way through to the creation of insightful dashboards and the proactive delivery of key findings. This end-to-end responsibility means you are accountable for the entire data pipeline, not just isolated components. A significant part of your role will involve building and extending instrumentation across the product. While frontend event tracking is already in place, you will be tasked with its enhancement, alongside the crucial addition of server-side event capture. Ensuring the consistency, completeness, and practical utility of the event taxonomy will be a core focus. You will also design and build dashboards that Product Managers will use on a daily basis, focusing on answering critical questions related to feature adoption, user engagement levels, conversion rates through key user flows, and vital retention signals. Furthermore, you will play a key role in defining what metrics are measured and the rationale behind them, creating and maintaining the event taxonomy and measurement framework. This involves making critical decisions about what data is truly worth tracking, distinguishing it from noise, and establishing how these events map to the desired product outcomes. A proactive approach to surfacing insights is expected; you will actively identify usage patterns, adoption trends, and points of user drop-off, bringing these observations to the product team with relevant context. To empower stakeholders, you will enable self-service analysis by building appropriate data models, creating saved queries, and developing comprehensive documentation, thereby reducing reliance on ad-hoc requests. Maintaining data quality and trust is paramount, which you will achieve through the implementation of instrumentation tests, continuous monitoring of event pipelines, and swift resolution of issues before they impact data accuracy.
