- • Oversee state insurance filing activities to ensure products remain compliant, market-ready, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
- • Review state insurance requirements and assess their impact on existing products to maintain regulatory posture.
- • Draft, review, and revise policy forms to ensure compliance with state-specific filing and regulatory requirements.
- • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including Business, Legal, Actuarial, Underwriting, Operations, and Claims teams to translate regulatory requirements into compliant product solutions.
- • Manage the filing process to support timely product approvals and minimize regulatory and operational risk.
- • Serve as the primary point of contact with State Insurance Departments, proactively addressing questions, objections, and conditions to facilitate approvals.
- • Ensure all regulatory decisions, approvals, and exemptions are well documented, defensible, and auditable.
- • Maintain governance over filing documentation, approvals, and regulatory records to support audit readiness and transparency.
- • Provide direction and oversight for the preparation and submission of state compliance filings, ensuring consistency, quality, and regulatory alignment.
- • Evaluate filing obligations and determine when exemptions apply, preparing documented assessments and recommendations for management approval.
- • Support corporate governance activities including company registration renewals and annual rate filings.
- • Contribute to regulatory risk mitigation efforts by supporting market conduct exams, litigation discovery, audits, and ad-hoc regulatory inquiries.
- • Ensure all state-driven deadlines and regulatory commitments are met to avoid compliance gaps or enforcement exposure.
- • Oversee preparation and submission of filings through SERFF and alternative channels, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- • Coordinate filing fee payments and required certifications to ensure submissions are accepted and processed without delay.
- • Ensure internal systems (e.g., OSX and State Filings Systems) accurately reflect filing status, approvals, and distributions.
- • Facilitate timely communication of regulatory approvals and requirements to impacted business and operational teams.
- • Possess or quickly develop knowledge of consumer and home warranty service contract regulation and product development.
- • Demonstrate understanding of Assurant’s products by delivering on company purpose and living brand values through compliant product maintenance.
- • Support Assurant goals by thinking beyond the current role and thinking like a customer.
- • Make sound business decisions by gathering data and taking decisive, timely action.
- • Collaborate and form relationships with internal employees, State Regulators, and external representatives to achieve business goals and create new solutions.
- • Maintain strong written, drafting, and editing skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- • Apply strong data entry skills and time management abilities to prioritize work and meet assigned deadlines.
- • Research industry regulations and apply working knowledge of insurance terminology to support compliance efforts.
- • Willingness to learn through on-the-job training and external insurance courses to broaden knowledge and skillset.
- • Balance compliance requirements with business and company strategies and directives.
