- • As a Staff-level Product Lead for Astra's platform layer, you will own the foundational infrastructure that transforms Astra from a payments gateway into a programmable Payments Cloud, directly shaping how businesses move money at scale through APIs, developer experience, and extensibility.
- • You will define and maintain Astra's API contract philosophy, including versioning strategy, backwards compatibility, error taxonomy, and schema design principles, ensuring developers can build reliable, long-term integrations.
- • Day-to-day, you will write detailed, edge-case-aware platform specs that engineering can ship from, own the platform roadmap balancing foundational investments with customer-facing features, and conduct technical discovery with sophisticated customers to identify extensibility needs.
- • You will partner with engineering to review API design and uphold developer ergonomics standards, collaborate with solutions and implementation teams to translate customer pain points into platform requirements, and drive the developer experience roadmap in partnership with docs, solutions engineering, and DevRel.
- • You will represent platform strategy in customer conversations, partnership discussions, and technical due diligence, influencing both product and engineering culture while working directly with the Leadership Team and founding team.
- • In this role, you will learn how to architect infrastructure-level platform products that create lock-in through superior developer experience, gain deep exposure to programmable money movement and agentic payment use cases, and help define the long-term strategy for Astra as it evolves into category-defining financial infrastructure.
- • You will achieve impact by improving time-to-first-transaction, enhancing platform reliability and SLA transparency, enabling customers to compose complex payment workflows using Astra’s primitives, and contributing to a profitable Series B company with real ambitions to be the 'Snowflake of payments'.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years building developer-facing platform or API products at a technical infrastructure company
- • Deep expertise in API design – REST, webhooks, event-driven architecture – and strong opinions about what makes a platform great to build on
- • Experience owning a platform roadmap across authentication, configuration, extensibility, and observability layers
- • Strong understanding of how infrastructure companies create lock-in through developer experience, not just features
- • Comfort reasoning about systems-level tradeoffs: latency vs. consistency, configurability vs. complexity, generality vs. opinionation
- • Track record of operating as a principal-level IC – setting direction, influencing without authority, and driving outcomes across engineering and go-to-market
- • Exceptional written communication; you can produce a platform spec that is simultaneously a product document and a technical contract
- • Payments context is a plus, not a requirement – but intellectual curiosity about how money moves is required
