Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end product strategy and execution for Oscilar’s AML and financial crimes suite, including transaction monitoring, KYC/KYB, screening, case management, and SAR filing.
- • Design and refine the rules engine and ML model layer for transaction monitoring, defining alert scenarios, threshold calibration, typology coverage, and backtesting against historical transaction data to reduce false positive rates from 90–95%.
- • Build and optimize KYC/KYB onboarding workflows, integrating dynamic risk-based orchestration of data sources such as bureau data, device signals, open banking, and registry data—avoiding one-size-fits-all waterfall approaches.
- • Improve screening systems for sanctions (OFAC, UN, EU), PEPs, and adverse media by addressing fuzzy matching challenges that drive excessive false positives, ensuring defensibility under regulatory examination.
- • Redesign case management workflows to optimize human-in-the-loop systems: alert routing, case assignment, escalation logic, QA/QC review, and disposition tracking—identifying where AI can automate and where human judgment is critical.
- • Lead the product development for FinCEN SAR filing workflows, including narrative generation, supporting documentation, audit trail integrity, and compliance with regulatory scrutiny and MRA expectations.
- • Define the AML data strategy: architect the underlying data model for transaction graphs, entity resolution, behavioral baselines, consortium signals, and model feature pipelines—collaborating directly with data engineers and compliance officers.
- • Use AI tools as a core part of your workflow: synthesize customer call transcripts, cluster interview themes, scan regulatory guidance, generate PRD drafts, prototype UI flows, pressure-test edge cases, and query operational data to unblock analysis without waiting on data teams.
- • Conduct discovery with at least five AML/compliance buyers (BSA officers, heads of financial crimes, CCOs) within 30 days to surface new insights and identify product gaps relative to real-world needs.
- • Deliver a complete, engineering-ready PRD within 60 days with a clear point of view on SAR narrative automation—validated by at least two practitioners outside the sales funnel.
- • Ship at least one product feature to production within 90 days and own the 12-month AML roadmap with prioritized rationale based on regulatory, operational, and customer feedback.
- • Engage directly with Chief Compliance Officers on AML program design, contributing to conversations about scenario threshold drift, model validation, backtesting methodology, and typology detection approaches (e.g., structuring vs. layering).
- • Ensure all product decisions are grounded in regulatory literacy: understand BSA, FinCEN, OFAC, and FATF requirements, what triggers an MRA, and how to build audit trails that withstand examiner scrutiny.
- • Work in a fully remote, AI-native environment where over 50% of the company is engineering and product, and both co-founders are engineers who prioritize building tools that solve real compliance pain points.
- • Operate with extreme ownership: make decisions quickly, move fast, and drive impact without a handed-down playbook—you are writing the playbook for AI-augmented AML.
🎯 Requirements
- • Full-stack AML product depth: shipped product across at least two of the five core areas (transaction monitoring, KYC/KYB, screening, case management, SAR filing) in production under real regulatory scrutiny.
- • AML strategy knowledge: understand AML program design, scenario threshold drift, model validation, backtesting, and typology detection (e.g., structuring vs. layering); can engage a Chief Compliance Officer on program architecture.
- • Technical and data fluency: read data schemas, write queries to validate hypotheses, spot misapplied ML models, and address explainability as a concrete product constraint—not an abstract concern.
- • Regulatory literacy: understand BSA, FinCEN, OFAC, FATF requirements, MRA triggers, and audit trail expectations; have navigated ambiguous or evolving regulatory guidance while shipping product.
- • Bias toward speed: use AI tools daily to accelerate discovery, building, design, and analysis—doing in a week what others take a month to accomplish.
- • AI-native workflow: integrate AI into every phase of product work—from synthesizing customer insights to generating PRDs and prototyping UIs—without relying on manual processes.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity packages, including a 401k plan
- • 100% employer-covered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents (US)
- • Unlimited PTO policy
- • Remote-first culture—work from anywhere
- • AI-first company culture with over 50% of employees in engineering and product
- • Family-friendly environment with regular team events and offsites
