  • • As a Product Manager for Apache Knox at Cloudera, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of secure access to our comprehensive data platform. Your primary focus will be on defining, executing, and championing the product vision and strategy for Apache Knox, which serves as the critical gateway for all distributed data services within the Cloudera ecosystem. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of enterprise software, security, and data infrastructure, capable of navigating the entire product lifecycle from initial ideation through to successful market adoption and ongoing evolution.
  • • You will be responsible for translating complex customer needs and evolving market trends into a clear, actionable product strategy. This involves a continuous engagement with our customer base, field teams, and strategic partners to identify pain points and opportunities related to secure cluster access, robust authentication mechanisms (including Kerberos, LDAP/AD, and Single Sign-On), sophisticated API gateway functionalities, and the complexities of multi-cluster management in enterprise and cloud environments.
  • • A core aspect of your role will be to develop and meticulously maintain a prioritized, data-driven product roadmap. This roadmap must not only address immediate customer requirements but also align seamlessly with Cloudera’s overarching strategic objectives in areas such as security, hybrid cloud enablement, and the continuous enhancement of our data platform capabilities.
  • • You will lead the product lifecycle with a hands-on approach, encompassing early-stage discovery, detailed requirements gathering, meticulous planning for product launches, effective product delivery, and diligent post-launch performance monitoring. This includes the creation and refinement of Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria, working in close collaboration with our talented engineering and User Experience (UX) teams to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • • Your ability to conduct thorough competitive and market analysis will be crucial. You will need to understand the landscape of secure access solutions and industry standards, positioning Knox effectively against existing and emerging alternatives to maintain its competitive edge and market leadership.
  • • Collaboration is key in this role. You will partner closely with engineering teams to drive feature prioritization, navigate technical trade-offs, and ensure the successful implementation of product features. Furthermore, you will work hand-in-hand with documentation, Quality Assurance (QA), and support teams to facilitate smooth product delivery, comprehensive user enablement, and high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • • You will also play a vital role in our go-to-market strategy. This involves close collaboration with sales, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure that Knox is effectively positioned, that enablement content is robust, and that customer onboarding processes are seamless and efficient.
  • • Representing Knox externally will be an important facet of your responsibilities. You will engage with customers in meetings, conduct technical briefings, and potentially present at industry events, articulating the product strategy, highlighting key successes, and communicating the future direction of Apache Knox with clarity and conviction.
  • • Defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for Knox is essential. You will establish metrics for adoption rates, performance benchmarks, security posture improvements, customer satisfaction levels, and overall business impact. These metrics will serve as the foundation for monitoring product health, identifying areas for improvement, and guiding future product prioritization decisions, ensuring that Knox continues to deliver significant value to our customers and Cloudera.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of enterprise data security and access management, driving innovation in a critical component of Cloudera's market-leading data platform.
