Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the product roadmap for Element451’s foundational Data Platform, including data pipelines, schema management, and data quality infrastructure that enables all other product features.
- • Lead the development and expansion of the Integrations Ecosystem, designing native connectors, webhook frameworks, and API interfaces that seamlessly connect Element451 to CRMs, SIS platforms, LMSs, financial aid systems, and marketing tools used by higher education institutions.
- • Define and prioritize features that capture and analyze marketing & source data—such as campaign attribution, web analytics, and student source tracking—to link enrollment outcomes directly to marketing efforts.
- • Collaborate with engineering teams to unblock development, translate technical constraints into product decisions, and ensure integration features feel native rather than bolted-on.
- • Work directly with institutional IT teams and data administrators to understand pain points like sync failures, data latency, and schema mismatches, and transform these into durable product solutions.
- • Write clear product requirements, user stories, and documentation that align engineering, design, sales, and executive leadership around infrastructure-focused initiatives that lack visibility but are critical to product reliability.
- • Use SQL to validate data assumptions, interpret API specifications, and evaluate the trade-offs between REST, webhooks, and event streaming architectures to inform product direction.
- • Design for extensibility by anticipating how changes to data models or integration points impact downstream features across the student lifecycle platform.
- • Drive cross-functional execution of product initiatives from ideation to launch, ensuring outcomes are measured, shipped, and iterated upon—even when the work is not customer-facing or headline-worthy.
- • Act as the primary product advocate for data integrity and system interoperability, educating internal teams and customers on the importance of reliable data flows in higher education operations.
- • Occasionally own features outside the core data and integrations domain, adapting to the needs of a lean, high-leverage product team where flexibility and ownership are expected.
- • Engage with customers to gather feedback on integration reliability, data accuracy, and system compatibility, using insights to refine priorities and validate assumptions.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of ETL/ELT patterns, API design principles, and integration scalability challenges to make informed, credible product decisions without writing code.
- • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on the strategic importance of infrastructure work that underpins the entire platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in product management, or demonstrated work equivalent to a Product Manager (e.g., as an engineer, architect, or analyst) owning outcomes and driving cross-functional initiatives to completion.
- • Hands-on experience shipping data connectors, integration features, or API-based products with a deep understanding of ETL/ELT, API design, webhook reliability, and data synchronization challenges.
- • Technical fluency to read API specs, write SQL queries to validate data, and evaluate architectural trade-offs between REST, webhooks, and event streaming—without needing to write production code.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Work directly with the CPO, VP of Product, and engineering leads in a small, high-leverage team with no layers or politics.
- • Impact a mission-critical product used by hundreds of colleges and universities to manage the entire student lifecycle.
- • Flexibility to occasionally own features outside core data and integrations, encouraging broad product ownership and growth.
