đź“‹ Description

  • • Join OpenHands as a Product Manager, Developer Experience, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI-powered software development. You will be instrumental in building an open-source AI platform designed to empower engineering teams, accelerate their development cycles, automate complex workflows, and seamlessly integrate intelligent coding assistance into their real-world software delivery processes. Reporting directly to the Head of Product, your work will be at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and the practical needs of developers.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to own and drive the product development lifecycle for the Developer Experience (DevEx) roadmap. This is a comprehensive ownership, spanning from the initial ideation and conceptualization phases all the way through to successful launch and iteration. You will be the champion for the developer's journey within our platform, ensuring that every touchpoint is intuitive, efficient, and empowering.
  • • A crucial aspect of your role will involve deeply analyzing customer and user feedback. This feedback will be the bedrock upon which you shape the direction and evolution of our core developer-facing products, including our user interfaces, command-line interface (CLI), software development kits (SDKs), and various developer integrations. You will translate qualitative and quantitative insights into actionable product requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • • Collaboration with our vibrant open-source community is paramount. You will actively engage with community members to understand their unique needs, identify pain points, and foster a collaborative environment where their contributions enhance our platform. This involves not just listening but also actively participating in discussions, gathering insights, and ensuring the community's voice is heard in product decisions.
  • • You will work hand-in-hand with our talented engineering teams to define clear and concise technical requirements and to collaboratively build out the product roadmap. This partnership is essential for translating product vision into tangible, high-quality software. You will be responsible for articulating the 'what' and 'why' of product features, enabling engineering to focus on the 'how'.
  • • Driving product strategy and prioritization will be a core function. This will be informed by rigorous user research, market analysis, and a keen understanding of the competitive landscape. You will need to balance the diverse needs of individual developers seeking efficiency, enterprise customers requiring robust solutions and scalability, and the unique dynamics of our open-source community.
  • • You will be the advocate for the developer, ensuring our platform provides an exceptional experience. This includes optimizing onboarding processes, enhancing documentation, improving tooling usability, and ensuring seamless integration with existing developer workflows. Your focus will be on reducing friction and maximizing productivity for all users of the OpenHands platform.
  • • You will contribute to defining the long-term vision for developer experience at OpenHands, identifying new opportunities for innovation and growth. This involves staying abreast of the latest trends in AI, software development, and developer tooling, and translating these insights into strategic product initiatives that keep OpenHands at the forefront of the industry.
  • • Success in this role means delivering products that developers love to use, that solve real problems, and that contribute to the overall growth and adoption of the OpenHands platform. You will measure success through key metrics related to user engagement, satisfaction, and the impact of our tools on development velocity and quality.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of successfully launching and iterating on software products.
  • • Strong technical background, ideally with hands-on coding experience or a deep understanding of software development principles and practices.
  • • Demonstrated experience in building developer tools, APIs, or infrastructure products, understanding the unique needs of a developer audience.
  • • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams, translating product vision into technical requirements and roadmaps.
  • • Experience engaging with and understanding the dynamics of open-source communities and developer ecosystems.
  • • Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, testing, and common development workflows.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive compensation package including a base salary between $160,000 - $210,000, plus equity and bonus opportunities.
  • • Fully remote-first work environment with flexible hours, offering a great work-life balance (core hours are 12 PM - 4 PM ET / 4 PM - 8 PM UTC).
  • • Comprehensive U.S. health, vision, and dental insurance coverage, ensuring your well-being is a top priority.
  • • Unmetered Paid Time Off (PTO) and holidays, allowing you to take the time you need to rest and recharge.
  • • A supportive and inclusive company culture that values kindness, candor, autonomy, and continuous learning.
