• In this pivotal role, you will own and drive the roadmap for Fusion, the future of dbt Labs' intellectual property and a critical engine for our product-led growth (PLG) strategy. Fusion is designed to identify and monetize local deployments of dbt, enabling us to deliver net-new functionality that enhances user experience and expands our market reach. Many of these innovations will also be integrated into dbt Core, ensuring a cohesive and powerful ecosystem for our users.
• You will be instrumental in shipping cutting-edge features for Fusion, focusing on key areas such as SQL comprehension, compute capabilities, robust governance, and the innovative SAO (Self-serve Analytics Operations) framework. Your work will directly translate into tangible business impact, unlocking new revenue streams and solidifying our position as the market leader.
• This role is co-located with our dedicated Fusion engineering team in the US, fostering an environment of accelerated execution, sharp prioritization, and seamless alignment across product, engineering, and platform teams. You will act as the crucial bridge between our open-source product strategy and the technical delivery of commercial features, ensuring that strategic investments are translated into shipped features that powerfully fuel the Fusion PLG motion.
• Your responsibilities will encompass defining clear, actionable requirements for Fusion features that integrate flawlessly with the broader dbt platform, thereby unlocking significant enterprise value. You will be the linchpin in keeping the Fusion engineering team motivated, unblocked, and executing with a predictable, high-cadence delivery schedule.
• Beyond strategic oversight, you will contribute hands-on to the dbt Core and Fusion codebases. This includes actively participating in code reviews, crafting comprehensive documentation, and implementing smaller features, ensuring a deep understanding of the technical intricacies and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.
• Collaboration is key to success. You will work closely with OSS strategy leads, platform PM peers, and a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders to ensure a unified and coherent product roadmap that serves both our open-source community and our enterprise customers.
• Success in this role will be measured by the consistent delivery of net-new Fusion features on a predictable quarterly cadence. You will make a measurable contribution to Fusion's PLG growth metrics, specifically through the effective identification and monetization of local dbt deployments. Your hands-on contributions to the dbt Core and Fusion codebases, evidenced by merged pull requests and meaningful improvements to the open-source project, will be highly valued. Ultimately, strong execution and alignment across the Fusion engineering team will be a hallmark of your impact.

🎯 Requirements

• 1-2 years of product management experience in technical domains such as developer tooling, data platforms, or open-source software.
• Strong grasp of system architectures, particularly for local deployments and how they scale to enterprise use cases.
• Understanding of how open source investments drive PLG growth and product strategy.
• Ability to bridge technical delivery with business impact, translating features into revenue and growth metrics.
• Experience working with engineering teams to define, prioritize, and ship complex technical features.
• Strong communication skills with empathy for open source contributors and enterprise users alike.
