đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end organic user acquisition flywheel for Substack’s app, focusing on sign-up conversion, first-session experience, and D1/D7 retention across organic search, App Store browse, creator-shared links, and paid campaign referrals.
- • Design, execute, and analyze A/B experiments to optimize key funnel metrics including sign-up completion, first-action engagement, and long-term activation, with emphasis on user segments arriving from diverse acquisition surfaces.
- • Define and instrument critical funnel events to measure quality and friction points throughout the user journey from first click to subscription, ensuring data-driven decision-making across growth initiatives.
- • Lead App Store Optimization (ASO) for Substack’s main listing, creator-specific landing pages, and vertical app store surfaces, including copy, screenshots, preview videos, ratings strategy, and keyword coverage across both Apple App Store and Google Play.
- • Partner with Growth Marketing to align paid campaigns with organic conversion paths, particularly where paid traffic drives users to custom App Store landing pages, ensuring cohesive handoff and maximum downstream conversion.
- • Monitor competitor ASO tactics and maintain comprehensive keyword targeting across category-relevant and creator-adjacent search terms in both app stores.
- • Own Substack’s SEO strategy, protecting and extending its existing strong organic position by collaborating with product and engineering teams to evaluate SEO and AEO implications of new features, URL structures, navigation changes, rendering methods, and indexability.
- • Ensure all product changes account for technical SEO factors including crawlability, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and site architecture before launch.
- • Develop and test strategies for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), applying a clear point of view on how AI-powered search is reshaping organic discovery in media and publishing.
- • Write detailed product requirement documents (PRDs) and work directly with engineering teams in sprints to prioritize and ship growth-focused product improvements.
- • Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution, switching between analytical tasks like keyword ranking audits and product development tasks like wireframing onboarding flows based on immediate needs.
- • Report to the Head of Growth and collaborate closely with the Activation team on post-onboarding retention and with Growth Marketing on paid-to-organic conversion optimization.
- • Drive growth initiatives with high agency, influencing cross-functional teams through crisp written communication and data-backed arguments to secure prioritization of growth work on the product roadmap.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5-8 years of product management experience with a proven track record of writing specs, working in sprints with engineers, and navigating product roadmaps to prioritize growth initiatives
- • Strong analytical skills including ability to build independent analyses, define success metrics for experiments, and distinguish signal from noise in A/B tests
- • Technical SEO fluency with understanding of rendering, crawlability, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and site architecture, and ability to have substantive technical conversations with engineers
- • Hands-on ASO experience including keyword research, listing copy optimization, creative testing, and conversion rate analysis across both Apple App Store and Google Play
- • Experience with Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) or a clear, informed point of view on how AI-powered search is changing organic discovery
- • High agency and strong written communication skills to influence engineering and product partners and make compelling cases for growth priorities
🏖️ Benefits
- • Market-competitive salary ranging from $190,000–$230,000
- • Equity for all full-time roles
