Specifically, you will own the critical **notification engine** and the overall **notification experience** for Coinbase, impacting billions of deliveries and optimizing how millions of users interact with our platform.
• **Drive Core Growth Objectives:** Your primary mission will be to elevate Coinbase's user engagement through a sophisticated notification strategy. This involves three key phases: **Step 1: Grow MAU** – attracting and re-engaging inactive users by providing timely and relevant information. **Step 2: Drive Meaningful Engagement** – delivering a valuable and informative experience that empowers users to succeed on Coinbase, making our platform indispensable. **Step 3: Maximize Lifetime Value** – leveraging advanced techniques, including machine learning, to optimize notification inventory, delivery, and targeting, ensuring long-term customer value and retention.
• **Innovate the "Trading Companion of the Future":** Reimagine notifications from simple alerts into an intelligent, proactive system. You will guide the evolution of notifications to anticipate market opportunities, distill complex market data into actionable insights, and provide real-time guidance to millions of users, helping them make more informed trading decisions. This involves transforming passive alerts into active, intelligent companions that enhance the user's trading journey.
• **Build for Unprecedented Scale and Speed:** Architect and manage a notification infrastructure designed to handle millions of time-sensitive alerts, such as Bitcoin All-Time High notifications, with sub-second delivery times. In the fast-paced world of cryptocurrency, speed is paramount, and your work will ensure users receive critical information precisely when it matters most, directly influencing trading volume and revenue.
• **Impact a Global User Base:** Strategize and execute across multiple communication channels, including push notifications, in-app messages, and email, to reach Coinbase's vast global user base. Your efforts will directly contribute to significant increases in trading volume and incremental revenue, measured in the millions, by optimizing how we communicate with our users.
• **Pioneer ML-Driven Personalization:** Collaborate closely with our Machine Learning teams on cutting-edge initiatives like Smart Targeting and Hydropower. You will be instrumental in determining the right content, for the right user, at the exact right moment, meticulously balancing the need for engagement with the critical imperative to avoid notification fatigue and maintain a positive user experience.
• **Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Work at the dynamic intersection of Growth and Product, partnering with world-class teams in Machine Learning, Marketing, Platform Engineering, and Design. You will build stateful notification systems, implement robust volume controls, and establish quality guardrails to safeguard user experience while maximizing the impact of our communication strategies.
• **Own Measurable Business Outcomes:** Take ownership of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) directly tied to revenue, trading volume, user retention, and overall engagement. Your success will be measured by your ability to significantly move the needle on Coinbase's most critical growth metrics, demonstrating a direct link between your product initiatives and the company's bottom line.
• **Embrace an Entrepreneurial "0-to-1" Mindset:** We are looking for someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and manually execute tasks to understand them deeply before building scalable solutions. This "do the job first" mentality is crucial for identifying the most impactful opportunities and ensuring the technology we build truly serves user needs.

You understand how to quantify success and iterate based on data.
• **Lead Complex Projects:** You possess exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management, and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-quarter, cross-functional projects to successful completion.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of product management experience, preferably on a high-performing Growth team at a consumer tech company.
• Demonstrated experience in building or managing systems related to growth, notifications, or engagement at scale.
• Deep analytical skills with a proven ability to partner with Data Science to build measurement and A/B testing frameworks.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to lead complex, multi-quarter, cross-functional projects.
• An entrepreneurial "0-to-1" mindset and strong "1-to-N" systems thinking capabilities.
• Experience or passion in crypto (Nice-to-have).
