đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Product Manager, International Growth at Whatnot, you will be at the forefront of expanding our innovative live shopping platform into new global markets. This pivotal role is designed for a strategic and execution-oriented leader who will own the end-to-end product strategy for all non-US regions, driving significant growth across the entire user lifecycle – from initial acquisition and activation to sustained engagement and long-term retention.
  • • You will be instrumental in shaping Whatnot's international presence, with the ambitious goal of transforming international markets into a multi-billion dollar contributor to the company's Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV), capturing a double-digit share over the next few years. This requires a deep understanding of global e-commerce trends and a proven ability to adapt and scale a successful platform across diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to define and execute a clear vision and roadmap for international growth. This involves identifying opportunities to standardize a high-quality, consistent buyer and seller experience globally, while remaining acutely aware of and responsive to local nuances, specific market needs, and varying regulations. You will balance the need for a unified global product with the necessity of localized adaptations.
  • • A key aspect of this role is championing a "hub-and-spoke" operational model for international product development. You will collaborate closely with core product teams who own the long-term platform architecture and features. Your role will be to ensure that international requirements are not treated as isolated, one-off projects but are instead prioritized, unblocked, and integrated into scalable, foundational product development. This ensures that international growth is built on a robust and sustainable technical infrastructure.
  • • You will be the ultimate owner of international growth metrics and country scorecards. This includes defining, tracking, and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) across acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and overall market health. These data-driven insights will be crucial for guiding strategic prioritization, allocating resources effectively, and holding cross-functional teams accountable for achieving desired outcomes in each country and region.
  • • A significant part of your work will involve designing and executing rigorous experiments across the entire user funnel. You will partner closely with Data Science and User Experience Research (UXR) teams to gain a deep understanding of user behavior in different markets, accurately size potential opportunities, and validate the impact of new product initiatives before full-scale rollout. This experimental approach is vital for optimizing performance and mitigating risk.
  • • You will act as a crucial bridge between regional expertise and scalable product solutions. By working closely with regional Category Experts (CatEx), Sales, Operations, and Marketing teams, you will gather deep insights into local user behaviors, market dynamics, and operational challenges. These learnings will then be translated into standardized, productized playbooks that can be effectively rolled out and adapted across multiple countries, fostering consistency and efficiency.
  • • Ensuring that Whatnot's product is "global-ready by default" will be a core tenet of your strategy. You will collaborate proactively with Engineering and Design teams to embed internationalization (i18n) best practices, localization requirements, and critical regulatory constraints into the development process from the very inception of new features. This proactive approach prevents costly rework and ensures compliance and user satisfaction from day one.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of live commerce on a global scale. You will be empowered to make strategic decisions, drive cross-functional alignment, and directly impact the growth trajectory of a rapidly expanding company. Your work will directly contribute to empowering individuals worldwide to turn their passions into businesses and connect with communities through the unique experience Whatnot provides.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 6+ years of product management experience, with a significant portion dedicated to Growth Product Management or a similar role focused on acquisition, activation, engagement, or monetization within a consumer or marketplace product.
  • • Proven track record of driving measurable growth in a high-velocity consumer product or marketplace, demonstrating ownership of end-to-end funnels, setting ambitious targets, and leveraging experimentation to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • • Demonstrated experience scaling international (non-US) markets, including launching or growing products in multiple countries, adapting product experiences to local behaviors, regulations, or infrastructure, and partnering with regional teams to develop repeatable go-to-market playbooks.
  • • Strong analytical and experimentation skills, with proficiency in defining metrics, analyzing country-level data and scorecards, designing and interpreting experiments, and utilizing both quantitative and qualitative insights to inform product decisions.
  • • Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced environments, making sound decisions with incomplete information, and effectively balancing speed, risk, and quality in complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • • Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with a history of close collaboration with Engineering, Design, Data Science, UXR, BizOps, CX/Trust, Logistics, Payments/Tax, and regional go-to-market teams.
  • • High empathy for international users and stakeholders, coupled with a strong desire to build trustworthy, transparent, and locally resonant experiences for buyers and sellers.
  • • Experience as a Product Manager in a marketplace or multi-sided platform environment is preferred but not a mandatory requirement.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Generous Holiday and Time off Policy
  • • Comprehensive Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage.
  • • Robust Work From Home Support, including a home office setup allowance and monthly stipends for cell phone and internet expenses.
  • • Extensive Care benefits, featuring a monthly wellness allowance, an annual allowance for childcare expenses, and lifetime benefits for family planning initiatives such as adoption or fertility treatments.
  • • Retirement savings plans, including 401k offerings (Traditional and Roth) with employer match up to 4% of base salary in the US, and international Pension plans.
  • • Monthly allowance to "dogfood" the app, encouraging all employees to actively use Whatnot as both a buyer and seller to foster a deep understanding of the user experience.
  • • Generous Parental Leave policy, offering 16 weeks of paid leave plus a one-month gradual return to work period.
