đź“‹ Description
- • As a Product Manager for Payments in India at Adyen, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of payments acceptance within one of the world's most dynamic markets. Adyen is a leading global financial technology platform, providing a single, unified solution for payments, data, and financial products to a vast array of high-profile clients including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. Our mission is to engineer ambition, fostering an environment where individuals can excel, own their careers, and tackle complex technical challenges at scale as a team. You will be a key contributor to Adyen's growth by identifying, scoping, and leading new product opportunities from conception through to successful launch and ongoing iteration.
- • The Global Payments team is responsible for the core payments engine of the Adyen platform. In this role, you will focus on evolving our product for payments acceptance in India, optimizing payment performance, and introducing new payment features tailored for various use cases. This involves leveraging direct connections with major networks such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Rupay, and UPI to deliver the highest quality payment processing and drive market-leading product innovation.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to champion the customer experience, ensuring that the products you deliver are not only seamless but also profoundly valuable to our merchants. You will be driven by a deep understanding of merchant needs, focusing on creating solutions that delight users and remove internal friction points. This customer-centric approach is fundamental to Adyen's philosophy of building exceptional products that make a tangible difference.
- • You will own your product end-to-end, taking charge of the entire product lifecycle. This includes defining the initial vision and strategy, developing the roadmap, overseeing delivery, driving adoption, and managing ongoing iterations. Adyen operates on a model of clear accountability, assigning one Product Manager to one product to ensure cohesive decision-making, aligned roadmaps, and a clear path for long-term growth. While you will be supported by a collaborative team, the ultimate responsibility for the product's success, measured by key business outcomes like revenue, cost savings, or increased adoption, rests with you.
- • A critical aspect of this role is driving outcomes, not just features. Shipping code is only the beginning; your success will be measured by the impact you create. You will be expected to think deeply about the 'why' behind every product decision, understanding how it will influence behavior, drive adoption, and deliver measurable results. For instance, enabling merchants to activate payments independently, without requiring support, exemplifies the kind of impactful outcome we aim for.
- • You will embrace a long-term vision, looking beyond immediate goals to lay the groundwork for significant achievements in the next 2-3 years. This involves working backward from a compelling vision of success, identifying and building the foundational elements that will propel Adyen forward in the Indian market and beyond.
- • Prioritization will be a key skill, understanding the power of saying 'no' and clearly articulating the rationale behind tough prioritization calls and the associated trade-offs. The principle is that if everything is a priority, nothing truly is.
- • You will be empowered to make decisive, high-quality choices quickly, avoiding the pitfalls of endless meetings or consensus-seeking for its own sake. Adyen values speed and decisiveness, encouraging informed decisions with the understanding that occasional mistakes are part of a progressive and learning-oriented environment.
- • Measuring your impact is paramount. You will be expected to have a deep understanding of your product's financial health, including revenue, costs, and adoption drivers. Identifying which merchants are scaling and which features are truly driving success will be a core part of your role.
- • You will not be a 'feature factory,' focusing instead on delivering true value. You will not act as operations support, but rather solve root problems to enable support teams to scale effectively. While technical understanding is important, your primary focus will remain on customer value, not getting lost in technical weeds. Ownership will not be fragmented, ensuring clear, end-to-end accountability. You will be proactive and lead the way, not wait for requirements. Building without understanding the problem deeply will be avoided, as understanding the problem is fundamental before proposing solutions. Finally, shipping a product will not be confused with success; true success will be measured by adoption, impact, and continuous learning.
