- • As a Product Operations Manager at OpenAI, you will serve as a senior individual contributor within the Applied AI org, driving operational excellence for product teams bringing advanced AI models to market via APIs and user-facing products like ChatGPT and Codex.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include standing up and operating alpha/beta/GA programs with clear entry/exit criteria, recruiting design partners, running internal dogfooding, and transforming qualitative and quantitative insights into prioritized product work.
- • You will own the launch calendar and readiness cadence for a product group, running cross-functional checkpoints across Product, Engineering, Research, Safety, Security, Legal, Support, and GTM teams to ensure alignment and readiness.
- • You will build systems to capture, triage, and synthesize user feedback into actionable recommendations, lead coordination for high-impact moments such as Dev Day demos and rollout waves, and develop internal tools and automations (using code, no-code, or AI) to scale operations like feedback intake, issue taxonomy, and release notes.
- • You will contribute to building and scaling the Product Operations function at OpenAI by codifying best practices, raising the quality bar, and mentoring peers, all while working in a hybrid model (3 days in-office per week) in San Francisco with relocation assistance available.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience in Product Operations at one or more scaling tech companies, working closely with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional partners on central systems and product launches.
- • Experience building systems or tools using code, no-code, or AI platforms (e.g., Airtable, Retool, Zapier, Python, JavaScript) to streamline internal processes.
- • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Google Sheets automations, or Databricks to turn user feedback into product insights.
- • Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to self-prioritize, context-switch across projects, and persuade stakeholders without authority.
- • Familiarity with OpenAI tools and APIs (ChatGPT, Codex, function calling, structured outputs) and comfort with terminal/CLI environments.
- • Entrepreneurial mindset with bias for action, high agency, and ability to ship v1s quickly while iterating to quality at scale.
