Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the expansion of Foth’s marine infrastructure practice in Tennessee, transforming waterfront visions into resilient, build-ready solutions for ports, harbors, and shoreline protection projects from Memphis to Nashville and beyond.
  • • Partner with Project Managers to define scope, budgets, and schedules for multi-million-dollar marine projects, ensuring every dollar and day is optimized while exceeding client expectations for quality and safety.
  • • Translate complex coastal conditions—waves, currents, scour, and sediment transport—into clear construction documents: detailed plans, technical specifications, and quantity take-offs that contractors can execute flawlessly.
  • • Serve as the technical bridge between Foth’s national Technical Competency Leaders and local delivery teams, curating and continuously refining a best-in-class technical library of standards, calculation templates, and CAD details specific to waterfront structures.
  • • Drive innovation by piloting new design approaches, materials, and construction techniques—such as living shorelines, precast floating docks, or composite piles—and capturing lessons learned to elevate future projects.
  • • Champion business development alongside Client Team Leaders: identify emerging opportunities, craft winning proposals, and present compelling technical narratives that secure new work and deepen existing relationships.
  • • Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients from first handshake to ribbon-cutting, translating engineering jargon into plain language for port authorities, municipal councils, and private developers.
  • • Mentor junior engineers and EITs through design reviews, lunch-and-learns, and on-site construction observations, cultivating the next generation of coastal experts while reinforcing Foth’s culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • • Coordinate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams—environmental scientists, structural engineers, surveyors, and regulatory specialists—to integrate geotechnical data, habitat mitigation plans, and permitting strategies into cohesive project deliverables.
  • • Oversee construction administration tasks including submittal reviews, RFI responses, and field inspections, ensuring that every sheet pile, armor stone, and concrete cap meets design intent and regulatory standards.
  • • Leverage advanced analysis tools—such as CMS-Wave, STWAVE, or similar—to model wave climates and optimize breakwater layouts, mooring configurations, and dredge footprints for cost-effective performance over the project lifecycle.
  • • Contribute to Foth’s thought leadership by authoring white papers, presenting at regional conferences, and participating in industry committees, positioning the firm as the go-to expert for marine infrastructure challenges in the Mid-South.
  • • Balance remote flexibility with purposeful travel to project sites along the Mississippi River, Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, and Gulf Coast, ensuring firsthand understanding of site conditions and client needs.
  • • Uphold Foth’s 85-year legacy of integrity, safety, and member ownership by actively participating in employee forums, sharing knowledge freely, and celebrating collective wins that strengthen the entire firm.
