- • The Project Development Engineering Intern role supports Ameresco’s mission to help customers reduce costs, enhance resilience, and decarbonize through smart energy efficiency solutions and infrastructure upgrades.
- • Day to day, the intern will assist Project Development Engineers with technical analysis of mechanical and building systems, including HVAC, central plant, and building automation systems; review drawings and specifications; analyze utility and system performance data; perform engineering calculations for equipment sizing and system performance; document improvement opportunities; and prepare technical narratives and calculations for feasibility studies and proposals using Excel-based tools.
- • The intern will join Ameresco’s Project Development Engineering team in a remote work environment, contributing to early-stage project development for public sector, K-12 schools, higher education, utilities, and healthcare clients across the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Europe.
- • Through this role, the intern will gain hands-on experience in energy engineering analysis, technical documentation, and project coordination, with potential exposure to construction and project management activities, building foundational skills for a career in sustainable infrastructure and energy systems engineering.
🎯 Requirements
- • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
- • Strong interest in mechanical systems, building systems, or applied engineering analysis
- • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- • Ability to clearly document engineering assumptions, calculations, and conclusions
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills
- • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured remote environment
