📋 Description
- • As a Project Manager – Design Engineering (Critical Infrastructure) at Vantage Data Centers, you will be instrumental in elevating the quality, consistency, and resilience of critical infrastructure designs across our expansive global data center portfolio.
- • This pivotal role involves close collaboration with a dedicated team of internal design engineers, external engineering consultants, and a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that all design solutions are seamlessly aligned, thoroughly integrated, and meticulously prepared for successful project execution.
- • You will actively support the continuous evolution of our Day 1 designs by championing structured design alignment processes, rigorously validating system architectures, and reinforcing consistency across all engineering disciplines, vendor partnerships, and project delivery phases.
- • Through proactive and insightful design reviews, meticulous coordination efforts, and the incorporation of valuable field-informed insights, you will play a crucial part in translating complex engineering intent into designs that are not only constructible and scalable but also operationally sound and future-proof.
- • Operating as a delivery-focused project manager, you will leverage your strong technical fluency to contribute significantly to the Design Integration Group’s (DIG) overarching mission: to deliver data center infrastructure that is exceptionally resilient, consistently repeatable, and performs at the highest levels.
- • Design Engineering Program Leadership:
- • Coordinate and foster alignment among internal design engineering efforts, spanning critical electrical, mechanical, and civil/structural/architectural (CSA) disciplines, ensuring a cohesive and integrated design approach.
- • Develop, implement, and meticulously maintain comprehensive integrated design alignment plans, detailed schedules, and robust tracking tools that are essential for upholding infrastructure quality and ensuring unwavering consistency across all projects.
- • Lead and facilitate structured design review sessions, with a sharp focus on key areas such as:
- • Evaluating resilient architecture and redundancy strategies, including N, N+1, and 2N configurations, to guarantee maximum uptime and reliability.
- • Analyzing and understanding complex system interactions and critical interfaces to prevent conflicts and ensure smooth integration.
- • Ensuring exceptional design clarity, unwavering consistency across all documentation, and optimal constructability for efficient on-site execution.
- • Critical Infrastructure Design Alignment:
- • Spearhead key initiatives designed to promote and achieve seamless alignment between the initial design intent, the defined system architecture, and the practical readiness for execution, bridging the gap between concept and reality.
- • Provide dedicated support for the validation of redundancy strategies and intricate system configurations, ensuring their integrity and effectiveness throughout all design stages.
- • Coordinate targeted field observations and essential site walkdowns, as appropriate, to gather crucial real-world data that will inform design refinements and bolster confidence in implementation accuracy.
- • Ensure that all design outcomes are not only technically robust and impeccably documented but also effectively communicated and formally closed out, leaving no room for ambiguity.
- • External Consultant & Vendor Coordination:
- • Forge strong partnerships with external design consultants, specialized engineers, and key vendors to actively support design enhancements, necessary refinements, and critical supplemental engineering evaluations, ensuring best-in-class solutions.
- • Diligently ensure that all deliverables from external consultants strictly align with DIG's stringent standards, our core resiliency philosophy, and all operational expectations, maintaining a high bar for quality.
- • Collaborate closely with vendors to reconcile equipment design assumptions with Vantage's internal engineering guidelines, ensuring compatibility and adherence to our technical requirements.
- • Design Integration & Delivery Support:
- • Work hand-in-hand with the Design Management team to seamlessly incorporate validated insights and lessons learned into Day 1 design packages and final Issued For Construction (IFC) documentation, ensuring designs are practical and up-to-date.
- • Provide essential support to the Construction and Operations teams by offering clear clarifications on design intent and delivering timely, expert guidance related to integrated design solutions, facilitating smooth project progression.
- • Champion and ensure the consistent application of all approved design outcomes throughout both the design and construction phases, maintaining project integrity and standards.
- • Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing:
- • Systematically capture valuable insights derived from design reviews and field observations to directly inform and enhance design standards, reference details, and the development of highly repeatable, efficient solutions.
- • Partner proactively with DIG leadership to identify opportunities for systemic enhancements within our design processes and to prioritize necessary updates to our standardized design approaches, driving innovation.
- • Actively contribute to and participate in continuous improvement initiatives that span the entire design engineering organization, fostering a culture of learning and adaptation.
