- • The Provider Onboarding Specialist at BMC Software, Inc. plays a critical role in ensuring a seamless, welcoming, and compliant transition for new billing providers into the BMC Community, directly impacting patient care continuity and operational efficiency by managing the full lifecycle of provider onboarding and offboarding under the supervision of the Credentialing Operations Manager.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying and coordinating completion of pre-employment requirements such as licensing (Massachusetts Controlled Substance and DEA), credentialing, payer enrollment applications, and HR paperwork; maintaining the Morrisey system as the source of truth for provider data; eliminating redundant data requests; preparing and distributing faculty appointment packets; and tracking application status while collaborating with Medical Affairs and Payer Enrollment departments to ensure timely clinical start dates.
- • The specialist acts as a key liaison between providers and internal/external stakeholders, including departmental management, hospitals, agencies, and vendors, maintaining positive working relationships and communicating status updates on onboarding and offboarding progress, including anticipated delays, to ensure transparency and alignment across teams.
- • In offboarding scenarios, the role ensures timely deactivation of system access, badges, email, and tokens; verifies proper storage of resignation letters; confirms notification of relevant stakeholders; and validates whether clinical privileges should be maintained post-termination to support continuity of care and compliance.
- • Additional duties include maintaining working knowledge of hospital bylaws, government regulations, and NCQA Credentialing guidelines; preparing compliance and quality reports; participating in process improvement initiatives; updating records in the credentialing software system; and supporting departmental metrics and audits through accurate data management and reporting.
- • The role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in healthcare operations, provider lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance while contributing to systemic improvements through automation and quality improvement teams, positioning the individual for advancement in healthcare administration, credentialing, or medical affairs.
🎯 Requirements
- • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in a healthcare environment.
- • Experience in a group practice, Medical Staff Office, credentials verification organization, or health plan is preferred.
- • Bachelor’s degree in information systems or prior database administrator experience may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
- • Demonstrated impeccable professional conduct and customer service skills.
- • Working knowledge of Bylaws, Hospital Rules and Regulations, government regulations, and NCQA Credentialing guidelines.
