- • As a Pulaar-English Phone Interpreter for LanguageLine Solutions, you will play a vital role in breaking down language and cultural barriers for limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing across critical sectors such as healthcare, government, law enforcement, and emergency services.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include responding promptly to on-demand interpreting sessions, accurately rendering meaning between Pulaar and English without omissions or additions, maintaining professionalism and neutrality during emotionally charged or high-stress calls (including 911 and medical scenarios), and adhering to strict interpretation protocols while working from a secure, quiet home office.

🎯 Requirements
- • Fluency in Pulaar and English with strong cultural competency and ability to navigate regional accents and dialectal variations.
- • Excellent listening, retention, note-taking, and concentration skills to maintain accuracy during complex or emotionally sensitive interpreting sessions.
- • Ability to remain neutral, objective, and professional during high-stress calls, including those involving end-of-life discussions, medical emergencies, or law enforcement scenarios.
- • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in teaching, translation, interpretation, or language assessment is preferred.
- • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship requirements; must be at least 18 years old.
- • Access to a dedicated personal device (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, or Android smartphone/tablet) and a high-speed internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, <300 ms ping, <30 ms jitter) in a quiet, distraction-free workspace.
