- • The Rattlesnake Creek Project Manager manages and advances conservation programs, plans, and methods for the Rattlesnake Creek Watershed in South Central Kansas, focusing on water savings through irrigation technology adoption, precision fallowing, and other conservation practices.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include providing technical leadership and support by planning, directing, and implementing irrigation technologies and land stewardship on private agricultural lands; addressing water infrastructure and innovative farming techniques; fostering cross-site learning among stakeholders; developing and implementing conservation strategies; coordinating supply chain support with commodity markets and researchers; and expanding phreatophyte removal efforts with partner organizations.
- • The role is part of The Nature Conservancy’s Kansas business unit, reporting to the Freshwater Program Manager, and operates within a mission-driven, science-based organization dedicated to protecting lands and waters for people and nature to thrive.
- • The incumbent will gain hands-on experience in watershed conservation, stakeholder engagement, grant implementation, and natural resource management while contributing to measurable water savings and building long-term public and private support for conservation priorities in the region.
🎯 Requirements
- • BA/BS in agriculture, biology, agronomy, or a related field and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- • Experience with agricultural entities and communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
- • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and web browsers; principles of land acquisition; and negotiating complex agreements.
