📋 Description

• The Regulatory Compliance Manager at NerdWallet plays a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS) to ensure adherence to evolving financial regulations, particularly in consumer lending and insurance, directly supporting NerdWallet’s mission to bring clarity to financial decisions while safeguarding the company and its users from regulatory risk.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting the implementation and maturation of the CMS by conducting compliance monitoring and testing across business lines such as marketing, product, operations, and third parties; documenting findings; supporting remediation; and helping to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program effectiveness.
• The role involves actively supporting enterprise-wide compliance risk assessments, including identifying, scoring, and tracking mitigation of compliance risks, while monitoring regulatory developments affecting fintech, consumer lending, and insurance products to provide timely, practical guidance to Legal and Compliance leadership.
• A core function is partnering with cross-functional teams — including Product, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Engineering — to embed compliance controls into business processes, ensuring scalability as the company grows, and supporting the drafting, review, and maintenance of up-to-date, practical compliance policies and procedures aligned with regulatory expectations.
• The position requires comfort in dynamic, evolving environments where processes are being built or refined, demanding strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while communicating complex compliance requirements clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, risk management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience within financial services or fintech.
• Hands-on experience conducting compliance testing, monitoring, and risk assessments, preferably within a newly implemented or evolving Compliance Management System (CMS).
• Experience in consumer lending and/or insurance compliance is strongly preferred.
• CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) designation is a plus.
• Strong ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Engineering teams.
