Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Join WorldFish, a leading international research organization dedicated to transforming aquatic food systems and fostering sustainable development, as a Research Analyst specializing in Impact Assessment. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to our mission of reducing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty by rigorously evaluating the impact of our interventions and research.
- • This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge research, policy influence, and on-the-ground development. You will be instrumental in generating evidence that informs decision-making, guides future research directions, and ultimately enhances the effectiveness of aquatic food systems globally.
- • As a Research Analyst (Impact Assessment), your primary responsibility will be to design, implement, and manage robust impact assessment studies. This involves developing appropriate methodologies, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting findings to understand the causal effects of WorldFish's projects and programs.
- • You will work closely with a diverse team of scientists, economists, social scientists, and development practitioners, both within WorldFish and with our international, regional, and national partners. This collaborative environment fosters innovation and ensures that our impact assessments are relevant, practical, and actionable.
- • Key responsibilities include the conceptualization and design of impact evaluation frameworks, employing a range of quantitative and qualitative methods. This may include, but is not limited to, quasi-experimental designs (e.g., difference-in-differences, propensity score matching), randomized controlled trials (RCTs), and mixed-methods approaches.
- • You will be responsible for the development of data collection tools, including surveys, questionnaires, and interview guides, ensuring their validity and reliability. This often involves fieldwork planning and oversight, working with local enumerators and partners to ensure high-quality data collection.
- • Data analysis will be a core component of your role. You will utilize statistical software packages (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS) to perform rigorous econometric and statistical analyses, identifying key trends, correlations, and causal relationships.
- • Interpreting complex data and translating findings into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for diverse audiences is crucial. You will prepare technical reports, policy briefs, research papers, and presentations that effectively communicate the impact and lessons learned from our work.
- • A significant part of your role will involve contributing to the development of research proposals and securing funding for impact assessment activities. This requires a strong understanding of donor priorities and the ability to articulate the value and potential impact of proposed research.
- • You will stay abreast of the latest developments in impact evaluation methodologies, development economics, and the aquatic food sector, continuously seeking to improve our approaches and contribute to the global knowledge base.
- • You will play a role in capacity building, potentially mentoring junior researchers or supporting partners in strengthening their own impact assessment capabilities.
- • The role demands strong project management skills, ensuring that impact assessment activities are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest scientific standards.
- • You will contribute to the dissemination of research findings through various channels, including academic publications, conferences, workshops, and engagement with policymakers and stakeholders.
- • By rigorously assessing the impact of our interventions, you will directly contribute to WorldFish's strategic objectives, helping to demonstrate accountability, promote learning, and drive evidence-based improvements in aquatic food systems.
- • This position is ideal for an individual passionate about using research to drive positive change in developing countries and who possesses a strong analytical mindset and a commitment to scientific rigor.
- • You will be part of a dynamic and globally recognized organization, contributing to a critical area of development research with tangible real-world implications. Your work will help shape policies and practices that improve the lives of millions.
- • The opportunity to work on diverse projects across different geographies and thematic areas within aquatic food systems provides continuous learning and professional growth.
- • You will collaborate with leading experts in fisheries, aquaculture, nutrition, and social sciences, fostering a rich intellectual environment.
- • The impact assessment findings you generate will be crucial for adaptive management, allowing WorldFish and its partners to refine strategies and maximize development outcomes.
- • You will contribute to the evidence base for sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly those related to poverty reduction, food security, and sustainable use of aquatic resources.
- • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to adapt methodologies to suit specific project contexts and data availability.
- • You will be expected to contribute to the overall research agenda of WorldFish, identifying emerging impact assessment needs and opportunities.
- • The insights gained from your work will be vital for communicating the value of investments in aquatic food systems to governments, donors, and the private sector.
- • Ultimately, your work as a Research Analyst (Impact Assessment) will be central to WorldFish's commitment to evidence-based development and its vision of a world where aquatic food systems are sustainable, equitable, and contribute to improved livelihoods and well-being.
