- • Research Engineers at Distyl build the bridge between frontier AI research and production systems that deliver real business value, turning promising concepts into reliable systems that work inside real customer environments.
- • Day to day, the person will design, prototype, and implement agentic AI systems, build compound AI architectures, develop evaluation frameworks, create tools for observability and debugging, partner with AI Researchers and Engineers, integrate agents into customer workflows, and communicate system capabilities and limitations to stakeholders.
- • Distyl is an applied AI technology company partnering with ambitious institutions to rearchitect critical operations for the frontier of AI, serving customers in telecom, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, consumer goods, and global social organizations, with a 100% production deployment success rate and backing from top-tier investors.
- • The person can learn to design robust agentic systems at scale, gain deep experience in AI system evaluation and production hardening, work with state-of-the-art models, and contribute to mission-critical workflows affecting hundreds of millions of interactions across top enterprises.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience building agentic systems that use models, tools, retrieval, planning, memory, or multi-step execution to complete real tasks
- • Strong engineering fundamentals with clean, maintainable Python and comfort debugging complex, stateful systems
- • Systems-level reasoning about how prompts, tools, context, evaluators, state, orchestration, and external APIs interact
- • Research-oriented builder mindset with ability to design experiments to test agent architectures and behaviors
- • AI-native working style, using AI tools daily for coding, debugging, design exploration, trace analysis, and experimentation acceleration
- • Comfort translating ambiguous business workflows into concrete agent designs and explaining system behavior to stakeholders
