📋 Description

• Drive the next wave of AI-driven healthcare breakthroughs. As a Research Intern-3 at Centific, you will sit at the epicenter of frontier AI and clinical impact, translating cutting-edge theory into life-saving applications. You will own end-to-end research initiatives that span from hypothesis generation to production-grade prototypes, directly influencing how the world’s leading enterprises deploy safe, scalable Generative AI in medicine.
• Architect autonomous agentic systems for clinical decision support. You will design multi-step reasoning pipelines that orchestrate traditional AI and GenAI models to interpret prescriptions, EHR narratives, and radiology images in real time. Your agents will plan, critique, and refine their own outputs—mirroring the cognitive loops of expert clinicians—while remaining fully interpretable and HIPAA-compliant.
• Curate and safeguard high-dimensional, privacy-preserving healthcare datasets. Lead the ingestion, de-identification, and enrichment of prescriptions, clinical notes, and imaging studies drawn from 230 global markets. You will define data governance protocols that exceed HIPAA standards and establish annotation workflows leveraging Centific’s ecosystem of 1.8 million vertical domain experts.
• Optimize and fine-tune specialized medical foundation models. Leverage PyTorch to pre-train and instruction-tune LLMs such as Med-PaLM, BioGPT, ClinicalBERT, or open-source equivalents on curated corpora of multimodal medical data. You will implement reinforcement-learning-from-human-feedback (RLHF) loops that align model behavior with clinician preferences and safety constraints.
• Conduct rigorous, reproducible experimentation. Design A/B studies, ablation tests, and longitudinal evaluations that quantify diagnostic accuracy, reasoning depth, and patient-outcome impact. Publish first-author papers in top-tier venues (NeurIPS, ICML, AMIA, ICHI) and present findings to internal stakeholders ranging from PhD researchers to Fortune-100 executives.
• Collaborate across a world-class, cross-functional AI guild. Partner daily with 150+ PhDs, data scientists, and 4,000+ AI engineers who have already reduced GenAI deployment costs by up to 80 % and accelerated time-to-market by 50 %. Your code, models, and insights will feed directly into Centific’s Data-as-a-Service platform used by the Magnificent Seven and global healthcare titans.
• Translate research into tangible clinical tooling. Build prototypes for radiology report generation, conversational AI scribes, and wearable-signal triage agents. Iterate with practicing physicians at leading medical centers to ensure real-world utility, then shepherd the most promising prototypes toward pilot deployments.
• Champion responsible AI and ethical healthcare innovation. Embed fairness, transparency, and safety guardrails into every layer of model development. Contribute to Centific’s governance frameworks that set industry benchmarks for trustworthy AI in regulated medical environments.

🎯 Requirements

• Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, AI, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field
• Expert-level Python and PyTorch proficiency with a portfolio of applied deep-learning projects
• Demonstrated experience curating HIPAA-compliant medical datasets (EHR, prescriptions, imaging)
• Proven research ability evidenced by first-author or co-authored publications, course projects, or open-source contributions at the intersection of AI and healthcare
• (Nice-to-have) Hands-on experience fine-tuning Medical LLMs (Med-PaLM, BioGPT, ClinicalBERT, BioMistral)
• (Nice-to-have) Specialization in Reinforcement Learning, RLHF, or Multi-Agent RL applied to healthcare optimization problems
