- • The Research Internship at Cohere Inc. offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI research by collaborating with leading researchers on novel ideas and shipping state-of-the-art language models to production, directly supporting Cohere’s mission to scale intelligence for humanity.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting machine learning research, building and training large language models, focusing on advancing knowledge in areas like evaluation, multimodal models, and optimization, disseminating findings through publications, datasets, and code, and contributing to research with practical applications in Cohere’s product development.
- • Cohere is a team of world-class researchers, engineers, and designers passionate about advancing AI, valuing diverse perspectives and a culture of hard work, speed, and customer-centric innovation in building frontier models for developers and enterprises.
- • Interns will gain deep experience in LLM research, strengthen technical expertise in distributed training and ML frameworks, enhance communication and problem-solving skills, publish impactful research, and build connections within a growing AI startup while working on real-world applications of language models.
🎯 Requirements
- • Currently pursuing a PhD in Machine Learning, NLP, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline
- • Eligible for work authorization in the country of employment and able to maintain it throughout the internship
- • Experience with large-scale distributed training strategies, data annotation and evaluation pipelines, or implementing state-of-the-art ML models
- • Familiarity with autoregressive sequence models such as Transformers
- • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, C, C++, Lua, or related languages
- • Knowledge of ML frameworks such as JAX, PyTorch, and TensorFlow
- • Previous experience building systems using machine learning and deep learning techniques
- • Strong communication and problem-solving skills to convey complex research findings clearly
- • Demonstrated passion for applied NLP models and products
