- • Own the end-to-end technical success of enterprise data-platform projects for Fortune-1000 customers across Canada, acting as the resident authority on Acceldata’s Enterprise Data Observability Cloud and its integration with Trino, Spark, Hive, Kafka, Airflow, and Kubernetes.
- • Architect and deliver production-grade MVPs, reference implementations, and demo applications that showcase how Acceldata eliminates blind spots in multi-petabyte lakes, accelerates Trino query performance, and automates data-reliability SLAs for AI, LLM, and real-time analytics use cases.
- • Lead white-boarding sessions with customer executives, data-engineering teams, and SREs to translate business goals into cloud-native designs that leverage EKS, AKS, or GKE, while embedding Acceldata agents, operators, and Helm charts into GitOps CI/CD pipelines.
- • Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes workloads (resource quotas, autoscaling, pod disruption budgets, network policies) to guarantee sub-second Trino coordinator failover and 99.9 % compute efficiency for 1 k+ concurrent BI users.
- • Perform deep-dive root-cause analysis on query-plan bottlenecks, skewed joins, and metastore latency; deliver tuning guides that cut scan-time by 40 % and reduce cloud spend by six figures annually.
- • Orchestrate zero-downtime migrations from legacy MPP appliances or Hadoop clusters to containerized Trino on Kubernetes, including schema conversion, Ranger policy mapping, and Ranger-to-OPA rule translation.
- • Build reusable Terraform and Ansible modules that provision IaC for multi-region, multi-cloud landing zones with encryption-at-rest, VPC peering, and cost-allocation tags aligned to FinOps best practices.
- • Craft run-books, SOPs, and Jupyter-based training labs that upskill customer teams on observability-driven SRE practices, enabling them to self-serve within 30 days of go-live.
- • Partner with Product Management to funnel field insights into the roadmap—file Jira epics for features such as adaptive query-governance, auto-tuning of Trino worker pools, and Kubernetes event correlation for data-downtime RCA.
- • Mentor junior solutions engineers and customer architects on distributed-systems design, Kubernetes security, and performance engineering, raising the technical bar across the region.
- • Travel up to 30 % within Canada and occasionally to the U.S. for kick-offs, executive briefings, and quarterly business reviews, ensuring every stakeholder is aligned on milestones, success metrics, and expansion opportunities.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years in customer-facing pre-sales, post-sales, or consulting roles focused on cloud-native data platforms, with at least 3 years designing Kubernetes production clusters (EKS/AKS/GKE) and containerized Trino deployments.
- • Expert-level SQL and Trino/Presto internals: query-plan optimization, connector development, dynamic filtering, and cost-based optimizer tuning.
- • Hands-on coding in Python or Java for data pipelines, CLI tools, and automation scripts; comfortable reading Go when debugging Kubernetes operators.
- • Proven track record of delivering multi-petabyte data-lake or lake-house solutions using Spark, Hive, Kafka, and Airflow in highly regulated industries (finance, healthcare, or telecom).
- • CKA or CKAD certification—or ability to pass within 90 days of hire—plus deep familiarity with Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD, Prometheus, Grafana, and OPA/Gatekeeper.
