• • As a Senior Investigator within Coinbase's Global Intelligence team, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding the crypto-economy and protecting the company from illicit activities. This pivotal role involves acting as a critical liaison between law enforcement agencies and Coinbase, meticulously handling criminal matters that arise on the platform through both proactive and reactive investigative strategies.
• • Your primary responsibility will be to conduct complex, independent investigations into a wide array of cases, including but not limited to account takeovers, sophisticated investment scams, and other potentially illegal activities that could impact users or the platform's integrity. This will require a deep dive into identifying threat actors, understanding their modus operandi, and actively working towards the recovery of funds for victims where possible.
• • You will be expected to maintain an expert-level understanding of the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency industry landscape. This includes staying perpetually current with emerging threat actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), understanding new network protocols, and keeping abreast of all applicable regulations that govern digital assets and financial crime.
• • A significant part of your role will involve the preparation of comprehensive, detailed written intelligence reports and compelling briefing decks. These documents will be crucial for communicating complex investigative findings clearly and effectively to law enforcement agencies, enabling them to take appropriate action.
• • You will be entrusted with handling highly sensitive cases, requiring the utmost urgency, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality throughout the investigative process.
• • Mastery of evolving investigative tools is paramount. This includes becoming an expert in advanced blockchain analytics, social media investigation platforms, with a particular emphasis on identity research, and sophisticated data extraction and analysis techniques.
• • You will take ownership of leading quarterly sprints focused on emerging threats and topical concerns within the crypto space. This involves identifying key areas of risk, researching current trends, and developing strategic approaches to mitigate these threats.
• • You will occasionally be called upon to respond directly to law enforcement requests and inquiries, providing expert insights and investigative support.
• • The role may involve occasional domestic and foreign travel. This travel will be essential for providing critical training to law enforcement personnel on crypto-crime investigation methodologies and for representing the Global Intelligence team at significant, high-priority conferences and meetings, thereby enhancing Coinbase's reputation and collaborative efforts.
• • As a senior member of the team, you will play a vital role in mentoring and guiding more junior investigators. This includes providing them with expert advice, constructive feedback, and support as they manage and resolve their own cases, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team.
