  • • The Retirement Claims Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that Protective Life Corporation delivers timely, accurate, and compassionate service to policyholders and beneficiaries during one of life’s most challenging moments—processing retirement and death benefit claims.   • • Review and adjudicate retirement and death benefit claims with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring compliance with policy terms, state and federal regulations, and internal company guidelines to determine eligibility and calculate accurate benefit amounts.
  • • Gather, verify, and analyze required documentation such as death certificates, policy documents, beneficiary designations, and proof of age or relationship, resolving discrepancies through proactive communication with claimants, agents, attorneys, or financial advisors.
  • • Maintain accurate and confidential claim records in the company’s claims management system, ensuring timely updates, proper documentation of all interactions, and adherence to data privacy standards including HIPAA and GLBA.
  • • Collaborate with internal teams including underwriting, legal, finance, and customer service to resolve complex claim issues, interpret policy language, and escalate exceptional cases requiring managerial or legal review.
  • • Provide empathetic and professional communication to beneficiaries and claimants via phone, email, and written correspondence, offering clear explanations of claim status, next steps, and required documentation while maintaining a compassionate tone throughout the process.
  • • Participate in ongoing training and process improvement initiatives to stay current on product updates, regulatory changes, and best practices in claims administration, contributing to team efficiency and service excellence.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 2 years of experience in claims processing, customer service, or administrative roles within the insurance, financial services, or healthcare industry.
  • • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing legal and financial documents, including death certificates, policy contracts, and beneficiary forms.
  • • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Word) and experience using claims management or CRM systems; familiarity with Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately to diverse audiences.
  • • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity, meeting deadlines, and adhering to quality and compliance standards.
  • • Knowledge of life insurance products, retirement plans (such as IRAs or 401(k)s), and basic understanding of state insurance regulations is preferred but not required.
