- • Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities for global revenue, including accruals for revenue share and services, warranty lag analysis, returns reserves, and deferred revenue calculations.
- • Prepare and reconcile key balance sheet accounts such as deferred revenue, accruals, and reserves to ensure accuracy and compliance with ASC 606.
- • Validate system-generated revenue entries from Rev Engine, amortization tools, and waterfalls, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- • Support internal and external audits, including SOX and PBC requirements, by preparing documentation and leading revenue-related audit responses.
- • Lead Revenue Countdown activities, communicating status updates and timelines to cross-functional stakeholders during critical close cycles.
- • Review customer and service provider contracts to assess revenue recognition implications, focusing on standalone selling price (SSP) analysis, carveouts, bundles, and allocation methodologies.
- • Evaluate Principal vs. Agent considerations for complex transactions and maintain comprehensive supporting documentation for audit readiness.
- • Analyze bundle structures and lag impacts to determine accurate revenue allocation outcomes across hardware, services, and support offerings.
- • Track revenue share arrangements and ensure timely and precise accruals and reporting in alignment with contractual terms.
- • Partner with Sales, PLM, Operations, IT, Legal, and regional teams to evaluate accounting implications of new product launches and evolving revenue streams.
- • Support design and system configuration for new revenue models including subscriptions, professional services, and bundled offerings to ensure ASC 606 compliance.
- • Identify risks in new revenue streams and recommend process or system solutions to mitigate accounting exposure.
- • Develop and update revenue forecasts for channel marketing contra-revenue, service revenue, and bundled offerings, aligning with FP&A and Revenue Countdown requirements.
- • Analyze actual vs. forecasted performance metrics such as shipments and returns, providing clear explanations for variances to leadership.
- • Identify opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes and implement automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
- • Maintain and enhance documentation for all revenue accounting controls, procedures, and system configurations to support scalability and compliance.
- • Collaborate with IT and finance systems teams to ensure seamless integration between ERP systems and revenue recognition tools.
- • Ensure accurate reporting and disclosures related to revenue for management and regulatory purposes.
- • Work onsite three days per week at NETGEAR’s San Jose headquarters as part of a hybrid work model.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- • 5+ years of combined experience in public accounting, revenue accounting, or related roles
- • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 including SSP, carveouts, bundles, deferrals, and Principal vs. Agent considerations
- • Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle preferred) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
- • Experience with month-end and quarter-end close processes
- • Experience supporting new product launches or revenue stream implementation preferred
