- • Conduct in-depth analysis of Android applications and SDKs to understand codebase, architecture, and functionality, identifying potential security risks such as data leakage and malicious code execution.
- • Employ advanced reverse engineering techniques including decompilation, disassembly, and debugging to extract and interpret information from Android binaries and native ELF files.
- • Utilize static and dynamic analysis tools such as Jadx, Ghidra, Frida, IDA Pro, and Burp Suite to perform binary and APK analysis on Android applications and SDKs.
- • Unpack and reverse engineer malicious Android applications and SDKs to uncover obfuscated code, hidden behaviors, and exploitation techniques.
- • Develop and maintain detection signatures using SQL, YARA, and other pattern-matching formats to identify known and emerging Android threats.
- • Analyze Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, and Flutter codebases to assess application logic, API usage, and security weaknesses in mobile software.
- • Investigate Android fundamentals including activity lifecycles, AOSP components, and application packaging to understand normal and malicious behavior patterns.
- • Perform network traffic analysis to detect unauthorized data exfiltration, insecure communications, and suspicious API calls within Android apps.
- • Research and report threat intelligence on Android malware, exploits, and emerging security trends using open-source sources such as VirusTotal, ExploitDB, MITRE ATT&CK, and public threat feeds.
- • Evaluate mobile app store policies related to ads, potentially harmful applications (PHAs), and developer compliance to identify policy violations and abuse vectors.
- • Assess authentication mechanisms, device rooting detection, encryption implementations, and application packers to determine security posture and vulnerabilities.
- • Collaborate with security researchers, developers, and cross-functional teams to share findings, recommend remediation strategies, and contribute to secure application design.
- • Stay current with evolving Android security landscapes, including new OS features, runtime protections, and attacker techniques targeting mobile ecosystems.
- • Translate technical reverse engineering insights into actionable intelligence for product teams, threat analysts, and security operations.
- • Document analysis methodologies, findings, and tooling improvements to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing across the Android Reverse Engineering program.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5+ years of expertise in Android Development, Reverse Engineering, Pentesting, Application Security Assessments, or Capture the Flag (CTF)
- • Hands-on experience analyzing, unpacking, and reverse engineering malicious Android applications and SDKs
- • Proficiency with reverse engineering tools including Jadx, Ghidra, Frida, IDA Pro, and Burp Suite
- • Strong knowledge of Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, Flutter, and native ELF binary analysis
- • Experience with static and dynamic analysis techniques for Android applications
- • Understanding of Android fundamentals: activity lifecycles, AOSP, application packaging, and common Android APIs
