đź“‹ Description
- • Join Skydio, the pioneering US drone company and the global leader in autonomous flight technology, as an RF Design Engineer. We are at the forefront of developing the future of drones and aerial mobility, empowering a diverse range of users from utility inspectors and first responders to military personnel in demanding battlefield scenarios.
- • In this critical role, you will be instrumental in shaping the RF system that connects our users to Skydio's sophisticated autonomous ecosystems. As our intelligent flying machines achieve greater independence, the demands on communication range and bandwidth are escalating, presenting a significant opportunity for innovation.
- • You will contribute to maximizing the performance of our system designs by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including Electrical Engineering (EE), RF, Antenna Design, and Product Development (PD) departments. This collaborative environment is key to achieving our ambitious performance goals.
- • A core responsibility will be to define system-level requirements and specifications, ensuring that our wireless solutions meet the rigorous demands of autonomous flight and advanced aerial applications.
- • You will design and implement cutting-edge wireless solutions, leveraging a variety of technologies and standards across multiple frequency bands to ensure robust and reliable communication.
- • Perform in-depth circuit-level analysis to identify and resolve design and desense issues. This includes characterizing the nature of aggressor and victim components to mitigate interference and ensure optimal performance.
- • Proactively identify noise sources within the system and provide crucial support for system-level integration, ensuring seamless operation of all components.
- • You will be involved in the end-to-end design process for our products, from initial conception and development through to qualification, certification, and mass production testing.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on highly integrated electromechanical systems, presenting a rich set of engineering challenges and the chance to make a tangible impact on the future of drone technology.
- • Drive the development of next-generation RF frameworks and technologies, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in wireless communication for aerial platforms.
- • Apply your expertise to ensure our products meet stringent regulatory requirements, including EMI/EMC, ESD, and optimal RF signal routing best practices.
- • Utilize advanced simulation tools such as Ansys and Keysight ADS to model, analyze, and optimize RF designs before physical implementation.
- • Leverage your proficiency with essential lab equipment, including network analyzers, CMW500, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and near-field probes, to validate and refine designs.
- • Contribute to crucial performance measurements such as Total Radiated Power (TRP), Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS), and Rate vs. Range, ensuring our products excel in real-world conditions.
- • Debug and optimize wireless products, applying systematic troubleshooting methodologies to resolve complex technical challenges.
- • This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is passionate about contributing to groundbreaking technology.
- • You will play a key part in Skydio's mission to make drones more accessible and capable, enabling new applications and expanding the possibilities of aerial autonomy.
- • The opportunity to work remotely offers flexibility and the ability to contribute from anywhere, while still being an integral part of our innovative team.
- • We are looking for individuals who are not only technically skilled but also possess a strong sense of ownership and a drive to deliver exceptional results.
- • Your work will directly influence the performance, reliability, and capabilities of Skydio's industry-leading autonomous flight systems.
- • This is more than just a job; it's a chance to be part of a company that is defining the future of an entire industry and to solve some of the most exciting engineering problems in the field of robotics and AI.
🎯 Requirements
- • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in wireless design and desense evaluation for consumer-grade products, encompassing one or more wireless standards.
- • Strong knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design and analysis.
- • Excellent technical understanding of at least one of the following radio technologies: WiFi, LTE, Bluetooth, and GPS.
- • Solid grasp of the physics behind radiated noise coupling mechanisms.
- • Experience with PCB layout design and schematic capture.
- • Proven experience in debugging and optimizing wireless products.
- • Familiarity with simulation tools such as Ansys and Keysight ADS.
- • Hands-on experience with lab equipment including network analyzers, CMW500, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and near-field probes.
- • Knowledge of best design practices for EMI/EMC, ESD, and RF signal routing.
- • Experience performing TRP, TIS, and Rate Vs Range measurements is preferred.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary and equity in the form of stock options.
- • Comprehensive group health insurance plans (medical, dental, vision).
- • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay.
- • 401K savings plan for retirement.
- • Relocation assistance may be provided for eligible candidates.
