- • Lead the development and deployment of customer-specific implementations of MoveIt Pro, a robotics software platform combining AI and advanced motion planning for real-world automation.
- • Design and build software applications that enable robots to perform dangerous, monotonous tasks in industrial, logistics, and space environments.
- • Collaborate directly with global customers to understand technical requirements, scope projects, and deliver robust robotic solutions on schedule.
- • Work across the full software lifecycle — from requirements gathering and architecture design to testing, integration, and production deployment.
- • Integrate MoveIt Pro with customer hardware systems, including sensors, actuators, and robotic arms, requiring hands-on debugging and performance optimization.
- • Develop and maintain C++17+ codebases while leveraging scripting languages like Python for automation, tooling, and prototyping.
- • Utilize communication middleware to enable seamless data exchange between robotic components and external systems.
- • Manage technical teams and coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure timely delivery of complex robotic software projects.
- • Work with 3D models, CAD files, and simulation environments to validate motion plans and system behavior before physical deployment.
- • Participate in customer site visits and industry conferences approximately every other month, with travel totaling less than 30% of work time.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of MoveIt Pro by incorporating customer feedback, identifying performance bottlenecks, and enhancing scalability.
- • Ensure software quality through rigorous testing, version control with Git, and implementation of continuous integration practices.
- • Serve as a technical liaison between PickNik’s engineering team and external clients, translating business needs into executable robotic solutions.
- • Support the adoption of MoveIt Pro by startups, enterprise clients, and research institutions including those partnered with NASA, BMW, Amazon, and Lockheed Martin.
- • Maintain a strong focus on attention to detail, efficiency, and adaptability when solving multi-disciplinary robotics challenges.
- • Work in-office at least three days per week from the Boulder HQ, collaborating closely with engineering and product teams.
- • Stay current with advancements in robotics software, AI-driven motion planning, and industrial automation trends to inform product development and customer solutions.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum 6 years of professional work experience in robotics or software engineering
- • Proficiency in C++17 or newer
- • Skilled with at least one scripting language such as Python
- • Extensive knowledge of full life-cycle software development including Git, testing, and continuous integration
- • Experience with communication middleware in robotics systems
- • Ability to travel approximately every other month to customer sites and conferences (less than 30% of time)
- • Live in the Boulder/Denver area with ability to work in-office at least 3 days per week
- • Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
