- • As a Sales Operations Manager at Zillow Group, Inc., you will be at the forefront of shaping and executing sales compensation strategies that are pivotal to driving performance and aligning with overarching company objectives. This role is designed for an individual with a strong analytical foundation, a strategic mindset, and a passion for operational excellence, ensuring that our sales teams are motivated, fairly compensated, and equipped with clear insights into their performance.
- • Your primary responsibility will involve the meticulous design, implementation, and ongoing management of sales compensation plans. This includes leveraging historical performance data, incorporating critical business inputs, and conducting rigorous scenario modeling to assess the financial implications, potential risks, and behavioral incentives of proposed plans before their official rollout.
- • You will be instrumental in establishing performance targets and plan mechanics that strike a delicate balance between motivating sales professionals, ensuring fairness across the team, promoting scalability for future growth, and maintaining strict financial discipline. This requires a deep understanding of sales dynamics and a data-driven approach to plan construction.
- • A key aspect of this role is ensuring that the entire Sales organization possesses clear visibility into their compensation goals, current earnings, and real-time pacing against their targets. This transparency is crucial for maintaining morale, fostering trust, and enabling proactive performance management.
- • To achieve this visibility, you will collaborate closely with the Data Analytics and Sales Operations teams to define precise reporting requirements and design intuitive dashboards. These tools will be essential for providing the Sales team with the insights they need to track progress and understand their earning potential.
- • Ensuring the reliability, durability, and accuracy of the data sources used for setting and measuring performance is paramount. You will proactively identify and implement measures to mitigate any data quality issues that could potentially impact compensation outcomes, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the compensation system.
- • This role demands strong cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with Sales leadership, Sales Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Data Analytics teams to ensure the successful rollout, widespread adoption, and continuous maintenance of compensation plans. Your ability to foster strong partnerships and communicate effectively will be critical to success.
- • Beyond core compensation responsibilities, you will be prepared to provide essential analytical support for other critical Sales Operations initiatives. This may include, but is not limited to, quota setting and capacity modeling, territory design and coverage analysis, and headcount planning and productivity analysis, all of which contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the sales engine.
- • Success in this role is defined by the creation of compensation strategies that are not only well-designed and data-driven but also intrinsically aligned with the company's strategic vision and sales objectives. Furthermore, it involves ensuring that sales teams have an unambiguous understanding of their performance metrics, how they are paid, and their progress towards achieving their goals.
- • A cornerstone of success will be the consistent application of trusted and accurate compensation-related data, fostering a culture of confidence in the compensation system. Cross-functional partners should perceive you as a strategic, dependable, and collaborative ally, and the compensation processes must demonstrate the ability to scale effectively as the Sales organization continues to grow and evolve.
- • This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on Zillow's sales performance by building and refining the systems that reward and motivate our sales force, directly contributing to the company's mission of reimagining the real estate market.
