SAP Principal Architect, Transportation Management

📋 Description

• • Lead the end-to-end design, architecture, build, test, and implementation of SAP S/4HANA Transportation Management (TM) solutions across all Amgen manufacturing and distribution sites.
• • Serve as the solution owner for SAP Transportation Management within the global ERP architecture team, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and business outcomes.
• • Partner with business leads and engagement teams to develop business cases that align IT roadmap initiatives with Amgen’s strategic business goals.
• • Collaborate with cross-functional ERP architects (Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report, Source-to-Settle) to design integrated, end-to-end solutions that support global logistics operations.
• • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance IT effectiveness and deliver measurable business value through SAP TM capabilities.
• • Identify future business needs and prioritize resources to support delivery of critical projects, enhancements, and process improvements in transportation and logistics.
• • Ensure successful execution of portfolio investments by aligning deliverables with prioritized business needs and tracking realized business value.
• • Implement cross-functional initiatives required for regulatory compliance, including adherence to GxP requirements and ERP architecture standards.
• • Create and maintain all functional, configuration, and technical design documentation for SAP TM in compliance with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and Annex 11 requirements.
• • Support Validation and QA teams to ensure SAP TM systems meet corporate IT change management and SOP standards for regulated environments.
• • Manage implementation vendors to ensure adherence to project scope, SLAs, and critical performance metrics.
• • Lead configuration and development activities using internal and external teams to meet business requirements while maintaining system integrity.
• • Promote adoption of SAP industry best practices within the S/4HANA Transportation Management and logistics execution workstream.
• • Leverage deep business knowledge to influence architecture decisions and solution choices with business stakeholders and enterprise architects.
• • Ensure real-time tracking, monitoring, and analysis of sales orders, deliveries, shipments (Freight Orders, Units, Parcels, Vehicles, Containers), and freight conditions for operational visibility and analytics.
• • Apply expertise in OTR (order-based) and DTR (delivery-based) processes including selection, planning profiles, condition optimizer planning, freight execution, carrier selection, tendering, subcontracting, and cost distribution.
• • Demonstrate strong understanding of inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments, Transportation Load Builder (FTL/LTL), multiple transport modes, and freight settlement processes.
• • Integrate SAP TM with other SAP modules including SD, MM, FI, EM, GTS, EHS, and EWM to enable seamless end-to-end supply chain processes.
• • Implement integrations with Logistics Business Network (LBN), freight collaboration tools, and GTT platforms.
• • Manage carrier onboarding in LBN/GTT and configure carrier settings to support global logistics operations.
• • Contribute innovation ideas and proof of concepts to advance Amgen’s digital transformation in transportation management.
• • Communicate complex technical solutions in clear business terms, build stakeholder rapport, and influence decision-making across organizational levels.
