đź“‹ Description

  • • Spektrum is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SATCOM Systems Engineer to join our team and provide critical support to NATO entities. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of NATO's satellite communication capabilities, ensuring secure, resilient, and interoperable communication for Allied forces across strategic, operational, and tactical domains.
  • • As a SATCOM Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in the definition, assessment, and evolution of advanced SATCOM systems. Your expertise will directly contribute to the strategic planning, design, and implementation of these vital communication networks, ensuring they align with evolving operational requirements, stringent interoperability standards, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies within the Alliance’s communication and space sectors.
  • • You will be working within a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with key NATO stakeholders including Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Allied Command Operations (ACO), and the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA). The work involves producing measurable, service-based deliverables and documented technical artefacts under NCIA's supervision, ensuring all contributions are meticulously planned and executed.
  • • Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive technical assessments of existing SATCOM networks, terminals, and anchoring systems. This involves evaluating performance, resilience, spectrum efficiency, and cost-effectiveness to identify areas for improvement and future development.
  • • You will play a crucial role in defining system architectures, with a particular focus on the seamless integration of both Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) and Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM) resources to create robust and flexible communication solutions.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves contributing to the conceptualization and development of next-generation SATCOM system concepts. This includes exploring and integrating emerging technologies such as Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellations, software-defined payloads, and sophisticated multi-orbit architectures to enhance NATO's communication capabilities.
  • • You will be responsible for creating detailed Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) documents, thoroughly evaluating different technical options and providing well-reasoned recommendations based on comprehensive analysis.
  • • Developing and maintaining system-level functional and technical requirements for future SATCOM systems and their associated ground infrastructure will be a core duty. This ensures that new systems meet the demanding operational needs of NATO.
  • • Supporting critical interoperability and standardization activities is essential. This includes contributing to the development and adherence of NATO STANAGs (Standardization Agreements), NATO Interoperability Profiles (NIPs), and SATCOM reference architectures to ensure seamless communication between different Allied systems.
  • • You will be tasked with producing and maintaining Interface Control Documentation (ICD) and configuration baselines, which serve as essential engineering references for system development and integration.
  • • Contributing to the modelling and simulation of SATCOM service delivery architectures and their integration with existing NATO networks will be vital for validating system designs and performance before deployment.
  • • Assessing the impact and potential integration of emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) for resource management, advanced optical communication links, and protected waveforms, will keep NATO at the forefront of communication technology.
  • • Providing expert recommendations for technology insertion and effective obsolescence mitigation strategies will ensure that NATO's SATCOM infrastructure remains modern, capable, and cost-effective over its lifecycle.
  • • You will act as a key liaison with technical authorities at ACT, ACO, and NCIA, providing essential engineering inputs and consolidating documentation to support decision-making processes.
  • • Preparing high-quality technical briefings, detailed reports, and comprehensive data packages will be crucial for supporting NATO's strategic capability planning and investment decisions.
  • • Active participation in workshops, technical meetings, and industry engagement events will be required to stay abreast of the latest technological advancements and foster collaboration within the SATCOM community.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly enhance the security and operational effectiveness of NATO member nations, contributing to global security and stability.
