- • Own and implement the software capitalization process, including policy development, journal entries, and reconciliations for capitalized R&D costs.
- • Build and manage the commissions capitalization process, ensuring accurate journal entries, reporting, and reconciliations tied to sales compensation structures.
- • Lead stock-based compensation and equity accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosure support for equity awards under ASC 718.
- • Manage payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring alignment with payroll systems and compliance with accounting standards.
- • Assist with complex allocation calculations and journal entries for overhead, customer support costs, and depreciation across departments.
- • Support accounting for unique and complex transactions as they arise, applying technical accounting judgment to novel scenarios.
- • Drive public company readiness initiatives, including internal control design, financial reporting enhancements, and month-end close process improvements.
- • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on assigned accounting areas, providing documentation and explanations during audit cycles.
- • Collaborate directly with the broader accounting team to support ad hoc projects, cross-functional initiatives, and process optimization efforts.
- • Maintain audit readiness daily by embedding documentation, controls, and accurate financial reporting into routine accounting workflows.
- • Proactively identify and implement process improvements to reduce close timelines, increase accuracy, and scale accounting operations for a high-growth SaaS company.
- • Operate as an individual contributor with full ownership of key accounting domains, without direct managerial responsibilities at this stage.
- • Adapt to evolving accounting needs in a dynamic, fast-scaling environment where processes are still being defined and refined.
- • Engage in cross-functional work with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of complex business activities.
- • Contribute to the development of accounting policies and procedures aligned with GAAP and emerging public company requirements.
- • Maintain meticulous documentation for all accounting activities to support transparency, compliance, and audit preparedness.
- • Embrace ambiguity and take initiative to solve problems without predefined processes, driving solutions independently.
- • Willingness to support areas outside core responsibilities as needed due to the small, lean nature of the accounting team.
🎯 Requirements
- • CPA license with 10+ years of accounting experience
- • Proven experience in high-growth tech or SaaS environments
- • Deep expertise in software capitalization, commissions accounting, and stock-based compensation
- • Demonstrated experience supporting a company through its first financial audit
- • Strong understanding of GAAP and public company readiness requirements
- • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
