📋 Description

• As a Senior AI Platform Engineer (Mason) at Supernal, you will be a core technical leader responsible for designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI Employees — intelligent, agentic systems that SMBs rely on as their first AI hire. This role sits at the intersection of advanced AI engineering and customer delivery, where you translate real business needs into working conversational agents that handle live users, multi-turn dialogues, and complex integrations under real-world constraints. Your work directly impacts customer success by ensuring AI Employees are reliable, scalable, and valuable from day one.
• Day to day, you will: build advanced AI agent workflows using n8n and Supernal’s proprietary platform; design and deploy conversational agents with multi-turn flows, state management, and tool usage; own end-to-end technical delivery for high-priority client implementations from architecture to production launch; translate customer requirements and SOWs into technical designs, execution plans, and deliverables; make and own architectural decisions around LLM orchestration, RAG, API integrations, and workflow decomposition; handle real-world voice system challenges including latency, interruptions, fallbacks, and error recovery; write automated unit and end-to-end tests to validate logic and user journeys; apply robust error handling strategies to distinguish retryable vs. fatal failures and avoid silent failures; actively debug complex production issues across agent logic, prompts, integrations, and external dependencies; partner with delivery and product leads to manage timelines, scope, and technical tradeoffs; review technical work for quality, scalability, and maintainability; and define, document, and evolve best practices for building reliable AI Employees across the Mason team.

• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in agentic AI systems, voice-enabled workflows, and production-grade LLM applications while gaining end-to-end ownership experience — from technical design to customer success. You’ll emerge as a trusted technical leader who can navigate ambiguity, make sound tradeoffs under pressure, and deliver resilient, testable, and maintainable AI systems. Beyond technical growth, you’ll develop strong stakeholder communication skills, learn to lead through influence, and contribute to reusable patterns that elevate the entire team’s capability to deliver AI Employees at scale.

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, automation engineer, or systems builder shipping production systems
• Hands-on experience deploying voice agents using platforms like ElevenLabs, Retell, or Nextiva, including telephony and streaming audio integration
• Deep understanding of multi-turn conversation design: state management, context windows, interruption handling, and graceful recovery
• Proven ability to write automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and treat testing as integral to shipping
• Strong engineering fundamentals in error handling, retry strategies, separation of concerns, and clean component interfaces
• Comfort owning end-to-end delivery outcomes — including timelines, reliability, and client success — not just writing code
• Experience with agentic architectures, workflow automation (n8n, Zapier, Make), and API integrations
• Understanding of LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, function calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
• Ability to prototype quickly and deliver production-quality systems with tests, error handling, monitoring, and runbooks
• Elite debugging skills for edge cases, flaky agents, and real-world API failures
• Clear, fluent communication in English — written and verbal — especially when explaining technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to run meetings, drive decisions, write crisp updates, and ask the right questions early without heavy process
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments and takes initiative without being asked
• Brings a low-ego, high-integrity approach to collaboration and leadership
