- • Own the end-to-end dbt project including documentation, testing, dev/prod separation, and schema design to ensure the transformation layer is trustworthy enough to support clinical AI systems.
- • Lead the migration of the current data platform from Azure Data Factory (ADF) to AWS, making architectural decisions and building the new orchestration layer from scratch.
- • Own the semantic layer by defining and governing metric definitions, data quality standards, and governance processes to enable reliable self-service analytics across clinical, operations, and finance teams.
- • Implement and maintain data observability practices including pipeline monitoring, anomaly detection, and alerting systems to prevent silent failures that could impact clinical decision-making during home visits.
- • Audit existing data pipelines, document critical components, and fix broken or undocumented processes within the current Snowflake-based data warehouse.
- • Design and optimize Snowflake schemas for performance, cost efficiency, and governance, ensuring compliance with HIPAA-aligned data handling requirements.
- • Write, read, and debug Python scripts to support data transformation, automation, and integration tasks within the analytics stack.
- • Collaborate with Data Scientists, clinicians, operations staff, and finance stakeholders to translate business questions into data requirements and ensure data accuracy for clinical AI product development.
- • Work with multi-payer claims data, EHR-derived clinical encounters, care gap metrics, household-level family models, and outreach data to build cohesive, reliable datasets.
- • Ensure data pipelines reflect real-world healthcare workflows, including Medicaid eligibility, chronic condition management, and transitions of care.
- • Communicate complex data issues and metric changes clearly to non-technical stakeholders, building trust in the data platform through transparency and consistency.
- • Contribute to the evolution of Nest’s data function by establishing processes that will scale as the company grows, with potential future leadership of the team.
- • Use AI tools as part of daily workflow to accelerate development, testing, and documentation tasks, while maintaining rigorous standards for data integrity.
- • Focus on foundational data engineering—not dashboard creation—ensuring the infrastructure beneath self-service analytics is robust, governed, and auditable.
- • Operate autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving systems, requiring proactive identification of gaps, self-directed learning, and clear communication of risks or opportunities.
- • Support the delivery of value-based care by ensuring data quality directly impacts clinical outcomes for high-risk families managing complex medical, behavioral, and social needs.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years owning the transformation layer of a modern data stack, not just contributing to it
- • Strong dbt fundamentals with emphasis on testing, documentation, and downstream consumer reliability
- • Deep Snowflake expertise in schema design, query optimization, warehouse cost management, and governance
- • Experience with AWS data engineering or strong ability to ramp quickly in a HIPAA-aligned environment
- • Proficiency in Python for reading, writing, and debugging data pipelines
- • Experience with pipeline orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
