Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • As a Senior Applications Engineer at Standard Bots Inc., you will serve as a critical technical bridge between cutting-edge robotic automation technology and real-world industrial applications, directly enabling customers across manufacturing, automotive, and automation sectors to deploy and benefit from the company’s innovative 6-axis robot systems. Your work will lower barriers to entry for advanced robotics by translating complex technical capabilities into practical, deployable solutions that drive productivity and unlock new use cases for entire industries.
- • On a day-to-day basis, you will partner closely with sales and customers during the pre-sales phase to design tailored robotic solutions for novel applications, acting as a trusted technical advisor who understands both the technical possibilities and the operational realities of factory floors; you will then own the full installation lifecycle — traveling up to 50% domestically to customer sites to physically install, program, calibrate, and validate Standard Bots solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing equipment and adherence to safety, uptime, and cycle time requirements; you will create and maintain technical enablement assets such as Python-based sample code, REST and ROS2 API documentation, application notes, and white papers that empower customers to independently leverage the platform’s full capabilities; you will collaborate with internal engineering teams to test, provide field feedback on, and refine new features and integrations as the product evolves, ensuring that real-world usability shapes future development; and you will contribute to marketing and sales enablement by developing compelling technical collateral — including case studies, demo videos, and technical blogs — that clearly communicate the value, ease of use, and ROI of Standard Bots solutions to prospective customers.
- • You will join a mission-driven, fast-moving Applications Engineering team at Standard Bots Inc., a company dedicated to democratizing robotic automation by bringing the power of software (‘bits’) to the physical world of machinery and production (‘atoms’), with a relentless focus on simplicity, usability, and accessibility for users who have historically been excluded from advanced automation due to complexity or cost; the team operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and customer success, working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and marketing to ensure that every solution delivered is not only technically sound but also intuitively usable and reliably supported in diverse industrial environments.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack robotic system integration — spanning electrical interfacing (DC power, NPN/PNP logic), mechanical design (SolidWorks CAD), and software automation (Python scripting, REST APIs, ROS2) — while gaining rare, hands-on experience in customer-facing technical leadership within a high-growth hardware startup; you will develop advanced skills in technical consulting, solution architecture, and industrial deployment practices, positioning yourself as a versatile Applications Engineer capable of driving innovation at the edge of robotics and industrial automation, with direct impact on customer success and product evolution.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of hands-on experience across electrical, software, and mechanical systems, including proficiency with DC power systems, understanding of NPN vs. PNP sensor/logic interfaces, ability to write Python scripts for automation and testing, and practical navigation of CAD tools such as SolidWorks for mechanical design and integration tasks.
- • Proven industry fluency in automotive, manufacturing, or industrial automation environments, with direct experience working in or alongside production or assembly lines, enabling credible communication with customers about operational constraints such as cycle times, uptime requirements, safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 13849), and integration challenges with legacy equipment like PLCs, conveyors, and vision systems.
- • Demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with a growth mindset — energized by learning new domains quickly, comfortable navigating unclear requirements, and skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear, empathetic communication for both technical and non-technical audiences, including customers, sales teams, and executive stakeholders.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience and seniority, reflecting the value placed on deep technical and customer-facing expertise in a high-impact role.
- • Eligibility for Employee Stock Options as part of the total compensation package, offering long-term financial upside aligned with company growth and success.
- • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) retirement plan for all full-time employees.
- • Generous paid time off (PTO) policy supporting work-life balance and sustained performance in a demanding, travel-intensive role.
- • Opportunity to work remotely with up to 50% domestic travel, combining the flexibility of remote work with meaningful field engagement and direct customer impact.
- • Access to cutting-edge robotics technology and the chance to shape the future of industrial automation by enabling new users and industries to adopt robotic solutions through your technical expertise and customer advocacy.
