- • Embed directly within enterprise customer environments as part of a small, expert deployment team to develop deep understanding of their business workflows and operational bottlenecks
- • Define AI-driven solutions based on real customer business needs, avoiding theoretical or generic use cases
- • Build, deploy, and own end-to-end delivery of production-grade AI agents tailored to specific customer use cases
- • Design and execute performance evaluations to measure AI agent effectiveness, iterating systematically until measurable business outcomes improve
- • Become a domain expert in your customer’s vertical industry and leverage that expertise to continuously refine and improve AI solutions over time
- • Collaborate closely with Product and Platform engineers to ship cohesive, reliable AI systems that integrate seamlessly with existing customer infrastructure
- • Establish and propagate engineering best practices, reusable agent patterns, and scalable frameworks that enhance team output without compromising quality
- • Surface critical insights from live deployments to directly inform Handshake AI’s platform architecture and product roadmap
- • Work with frontier AI lab researchers and enterprise partners to access high-quality, proprietary data used to train and evaluate next-generation AI models
- • Operate in ambiguous, high-stakes environments where AI deployment directly impacts enterprise operations and decision-making
- • Maintain full ownership of technical outcomes, prioritizing measurable impact over output metrics like lines of code or model iterations
- • Communicate effectively with senior enterprise stakeholders to build trust, align on goals, and demonstrate value through clear, data-driven results
- • Apply systems thinking to bridge high-level business problems with low-level technical implementations, maintaining clarity across both dimensions
- • Contribute to the development of evaluation infrastructure and AI quality measurement tooling used across Handshake AI’s enterprise engagements
- • Adapt quickly to evolving customer requirements and technological constraints while ensuring deployed solutions remain production-ready and secure
- • Drive adoption of AI agents by demonstrating tangible improvements in efficiency, accuracy, or cost reduction within customer workflows
- • Maintain direct involvement in all stages of the AI lifecycle—from problem definition and agent design to deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement
- • Work 5 days per week in the San Francisco office to enable close collaboration with customers and internal teams
🎯 Requirements
- • 5-6+ years of engineering experience with strong applied AI and backend depth
- • Real-world experience building and shipping AI applications in production, not just fine-tuning or prototyping
- • Strong understanding of agent architectures, evals, and how to measure and systematically improve AI performance
- • Comfort working directly with enterprise customers in ambiguous, high-stakes environments
- • Strong systems thinking, able to bridge high-level business problems with low-level technical solutions
- • High ownership mentality, focused on outcomes rather than outputs
