đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Auto Adjuster specializing in complex non-injury claims, you will play a critical role in USAA’s mission to deliver exceptional service to military members and their families by managing end-to-end claims processes with precision, empathy, and compliance. Your expertise ensures fair, timely resolutions that uphold USAA’s reputation for integrity and trust in the property and casualty insurance space.
  • • Day to day, you will investigate highly complex auto claims to determine coverage, liability, and physical damage, including total loss settlements; negotiate liability in comparative negligence scenarios with claimants or adverse carriers; analyze police reports, witness statements, and recorded statements to establish fault and regulatory compliance; evaluate and settle first- and third-party physical damage claims within authority limits, including negotiating excessive storage charges; document all investigative steps, decisions, and negotiations thoroughly; collaborate with internal teams and external partners (e.g., repair shops, legal counsel) to set expectations and facilitate resolution; support members through empathetic communication across phone, email, and digital tools; apply deep knowledge of auto insurance contracts, state laws, and case law to guide settlements; identify potential fraud or risk triggers and refer appropriate cases to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU); assist in catastrophe (CAT) response efforts, including on-call duties, evening/weekend/holiday work, and potential deployment with minimal notice; mentor junior adjusters informally by sharing best practices in investigation and negotiation; and continuously prioritize workload to meet service goals while managing complex, multi-vehicle, or high-exposure claims.
  • • You will join a dedicated claims team within USAA’s San Antonio Home Office, where core values of honesty, integrity, loyalty, and service are not just stated but lived daily. This team handles some of the most intricate auto claims in the organization, serving a mission-driven membership base that relies on USAA as a trusted financial protector. The culture emphasizes collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability, with strong support for professional development and work-life balance through a hybrid schedule (3 days in office after 6 months).
  • • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in complex liability analysis, total loss valuation, and subrogation opportunities while mastering Guidewire Claims Center and refining your negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You’ll gain exposure to catastrophe response operations, enhance your ability to interpret insurance contracts under varying state regulations, and build leadership presence as a go-to resource for peers—positioning yourself for advancement into lead adjuster, specialist, or supervisory roles within USAA’s claims career ladder.

🎯 Requirements

  • • High School Diploma or GED, plus 2 years of customer service experience and 1 year of handling low to moderately complex auto non-injury liability claims.
  • • Ability to obtain and maintain an insurance adjuster license within 90 days (with up to 3 attempts permitted), and proven skills in investigation, negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution.
  • • Demonstrated ability to analyze risk, prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and make sound decisions under moderate supervision while adhering to compliance and regulatory standards.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, plus 401(k), pension, life insurance, parental benefits, adoption assistance, and paid time off with holidays and 16 paid volunteer hours annually.
  • • Access to wellness programs, career path planning, and continuing education support to help you achieve your professional goals.
  • • Flexible hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office after 6 months) in a mission-driven culture rooted in serving the military community.
