• ScorePlay is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Engineer to join our dynamic Video Production squad. This is a pivotal role within a focused, agile team responsible for the core backend services that power our innovative video processing and media automation workflows. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust systems that enable our clients – ranging from elite sports clubs like Ligue 1 and Premier League teams, NBA and NFL franchises, to major sporting events such as the Tour de France and the Australian Open, and governing bodies like UEFA and FIBA – to effortlessly transform every sporting moment into compelling content for their global fan bases.
• In this role, you will embrace both autonomy and significant impact. You will have the opportunity to take full technical ownership of your projects, from conception through to deployment and ongoing optimization. This includes collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end engineers, designers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration and deliver exceptional user experiences. Your contributions will directly influence how the next generation of sports fans engage with their favorite athletes and teams.
• Your primary responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of backend engineering tasks. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of backend services, APIs, and sophisticated data pipelines, primarily utilizing Go and its associated technologies. A key focus will be on ensuring these systems are scalable, maintainable, and performant, with a keen eye on monitoring their reliability and optimizing resource utilization.
• Data and database management will be a critical aspect of your work. You will be tasked with designing and optimizing database schemas, writing efficient queries, and implementing effective indexing strategies to ensure rapid and accurate data storage and retrieval. This is crucial for handling the vast amounts of media data ScorePlay processes.
• You will also play a significant role in our cloud infrastructure, specifically on AWS. This involves deploying and managing backend systems using services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS. A core part of this responsibility will be optimizing these cloud resources for maximum scalability, unwavering reliability, and cost-efficiency, ensuring our platform can handle peak loads and grow seamlessly.
• Collaboration is at the heart of our success. You will work hand-in-hand with front-end engineers to ensure a cohesive and intuitive user experience, translating complex product requirements into robust technical solutions. You will also partner with designers to bring visually appealing and functional interfaces to life, and with product managers to align technical execution with strategic business goals.
• A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement is essential. You will be expected to rigorously test, debug, and review code to guarantee its functionality, performance, and resilience. This includes implementing comprehensive unit and integration tests and actively contributing to the development and adoption of shared best practices across the engineering team.
• As a senior member of the team, you will lead by example. This involves conducting thorough code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and actively sharing your expertise and best practices. You will contribute to fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation within the Video Production squad and the wider engineering organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 1 year of hands-on experience in Go within a production environment.
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of database design, optimization, and SQL/NoSQL technologies.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms, particularly AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
• Excellent English communication skills; French proficiency is a strong plus.
• Experience working in fast-paced, startup environments with evolving priorities.
